I am concerned that the way some sites present their lending as new.
In many cases a loan can roll at the end of its term. Several sites give the loan a new number and afaics they class this as a new loan.
If someone is looking to compare sites, or p2p generally, for origination volume purposes then it gives a false impression.
I wonder if fca have rules for how this data is displayed and if it is always followed, to the letter, by companies trying to convince lenders that they are a growing business.
I guess its down to. ......lies, damn lies and statistics.... as the quote goes!
Is there an eady way to strip away renewals from the quoted figures without too much work?

Simple answer, no.
But total outstanding balances under management is a good indicator of size. Although could be somewhat misleading of quality if the portfolio includes a number of "extend and pretend" property loans.

You both raise important points. As there is a lack of clear guidance on statistical reporting I wonder why, when other areas of financial activity are very tightly regulated, these are missed. I am intrigued as to which site is referred too in the previous post. Please pm me. I think I already know but wish to confirm. I am also looking to diversify my lending 5o another website as I am now too concentrated by patforms and asset class as my investments have unexpectedly and unhappily magnified in the last year.

...Unfortunately P2P doesn't have any standards with regard to presenting origination, default and recovery data... That's not entirely correct. P2PFA members should be providing default information in accordance with the (somewhat lenient) definitions here (2/3 of the way down the page): p2pfa.info/dataOf course, many platforms (including the most popular on here) do not belong to the P2PFA.
