I must be misunderstanding: if he's bankrupt, how can he own a decent chunk of riverside real estate, have a business, and obviously owns a lot of property? Doesnt he have to sell it all to pay all the people he owes money to? And now we have the answer to that in practice, not just in theory...

Most have an entire omelette on their face now and have gone VERY quiet.  PS: And many from the time have since deleted their postings.  |

Most have an entire omelette on their face now and have gone VERY quiet. PS: And many from the time have since deleted their postings. Given the first two pages of this thread (which is as far as I got in ensuring I was omelette free) Id be amazed if anyone around here at that time is invested in this loan ... perhaps the bargepoles turned into punting poles later

The very first post in the thread, after the one announcing the loans, states: "The bathroom rocks! TBH it has got a "Grand Designs" feel about it." It's incredible how naive we investors have been, being swayed by the opulence of the bathrooms and the like. That's why many developers go to huge effort to design fancy CGIs and producing fancy brochures. I used to be a fool in the past and have been taken for a ride by such brochures, but, in recent times, whenever I see "Grand Designs"-style CGIs etc., I'm the opposite, being more weary to lend to the project because I'm fearful that the borrower is not likely to watch their pennies and the project is more of an ego-play than a profit-making one.

My barge pole worked just fine but my wife thought it might be a good punt. Fortunately she baled out early on so no losses on this for us.
