In a building which would get a very poor valuation report, definitely not a 12% loan security, a slightly disheveled man walks up to an obviously broken microphone. In a style which bears no resemblance to an Oscar's ceremony he proceeds.... Welcome to the second annual unofficial P2P Awards announcement. This year there were the usual controversies, not least the omission of the European sites from the entries and the use of nominations for some of the categories.
However, with minimal further to do, the first category to be announced is Best Innovation platform. In a relatively minimal field, this was taken by BondMason (stevefindlay ) who pulled ahead of Collateral (Collateral Rep ) and MoneyThing (MoneyThing ). The suggestion to refine this particular poll may be sensible for 2017 but well done to all involved!
Next up is the most improved platform. This had a slightly wider spread of endorsed sites, however MoneyThing was a creditable third, especially impressive given where they were perceived to be in 2015! FundingSecure (fundingsecure ) were just ahead in second but the winner was Collateral. Outstanding for a new platform (note to self.... shouldn't really be in new as well as improved!). Well done on being created and improving so much in one year!
The post of the year was the first of the new 'nominated' polls. This was therefore limited to those posts suggested by forum members. I think that every one of these posts is excellent in its own way but there can only be one winner.... which was ilmoro with his SS FAQ!
The platform rep of the year came up next. Again, nominated and this one was flagged as having people who could have been equally valid for it. However, taking this for what it is worth, the outstanding rep by a significant margin was MoneyThing! Well done to Ed and to his chickens (who I think he has trained to answer questions on his behalf!)
Always one of the more 'interesting', the vote for the largest disappointment was spread among quite a number of platforms this year. Even those who won other awards seemed to get 1 or 2 votes, which suggests that there is still room for improvement. The tie for third place and slightly ahead second place does pale into insignificance with the massive 33% of the vote (more than 2nd and the 2x 3rds combined) which was awarded to Saving Stream (savingstream ). Perhaps expectations were very high from 2015, as they were the platform of the year for that year? Perhaps issues are already being addressed and turned around? Perhaps there is simply more to do.
With no real tension building at all, the newcomer platform of the year is next. This was really a two horse race, with Collateral taking it by a healthy margin over BondMason in a respectable second place. Well done to both and hopefully all other entrants here will build on this for future years.
The penultimate poll is one which I still have some misgivings about. However, for 2016, the forum member of the year was cooling_dude . Whilst he may not have been around all year and did some very dodgy promotions via suggestion of wall building, it is unarguable that he influenced and contributed to this forum as a whole. Personally, I think all entrants on this one deserve a prize (for clarity, there are no prizes) as all made a difference to this forum. Thank you all.
Finally, the big one. Well, slightly less small one. Working from a creditable third place for Collateral, second for Saving Stream (which contrasts with the disappointment poll) the winner, with over 50% of the all votes cast... MoneyThing. This means that they have improved from their second place last year but maintain their position from easteregg November poll.
Thank you to all who voted. There were almost 500 votes in total across the polls this year, which is a record. See you all in 2018!The man slowly walks away from the microphone, looking as like he is looking for breakfast.

Well Id just like to thank jonah for running the awards, whomever nominated me and everyone who voted for me but above all Savingstream for making it possible by not doing it themselves, Id like to congratulate cooling_dude on well deserved victory and for joining in in a little bit of fun during the campaign. All the nominees and everyone else who contributes help to make this forum the valuable resource it is and keep me entertained (easily pleased) Unfortunately the Dude couldnt be with us today as he's already engaged on fulfilling his campaign pledge but Ill make sure he gets this. Finally, in a world that is increasingly divided, P2P brings people together, so I leave you with one final thought ... Tear down the wall!!!
Thank you and goodnight

I'm a tad surprised and humbled guys - I really am. Thank you to whoever nominated me, and all who voted However, I like to echo the what others have said about the community as a whole; I simply don't think that any one member can be credited for such an amazing, friendly and productive group. This community lives and breathes on the wide-ranging subjects and knowledge that only a group can provide. I guess I better also thank those 'orrible mods . Of course, I jest - they all do an amazing job and we have a lot to thank them for Right - I'm going to use this "momentous" occasion as an excuse to drink too much brandy and build a (wonky) wall

Most disappointing is a 'funny' category ....
At first glance it could suggest SS as the worst of the P2P platforms when in reality there is much good about them but obviously they've let themselves down in other ways.
Worth remembering they are most disappointing from the viewpoint of how popular they were, how many forum users still invest with them and fell let down by comms/lower interest not appearing to mean lower risk.
I think we all still know worse platforms .... but I guess 'worst platform' would be a very unsporting award even if we all have one!
Also congrats to all the nominated forum members and muscular winner!

Oh dear, seem to be further away from power than at any time in the last 50 years. not getting the message across, clearly affected by local issues. I will not be stepping down, standing aside moving to the right or accepting that in any way I may be failing to convince. I am in every way 100% perfect and nothing will stand in the way of my eventual triumph!

This is the reason I tried to pitch it as I did... not 'bad' just not as great as people may have hoped for or was historically. Going from best overall platform in 2015, Saving Stream had a lot to do to maintain that position and it would appear that they didn't quite manage it.
