''Socially responsible''. Isn't that just another feelgood catchphrase like ''sustainable development''?
Any loan supporting a growing business, and thus supporting 'economic growth' and local employment, might also be considered to be ''socially responsible''.
Doh!

The danger with being the cynic is it can form .... a type of negative feedback loop. It probably is not a healthy place to be, questioning is good and looking for transparency is good, but I'd avoid being a full on cynic. Not all employment is good. Building a water bottling plant in a developed country is about as dumb as it gets but it gets people to work. Scandals, well you get them and you get successes, it is too easy to fall into the Daily Mail, everything is going wrong mentality, everything is going wrong that is printed in the Mail to sell more papers is actually their objective, newspapers seldom tell you about the stuff that works out well. Have a great day

At the end of the day @bobo perhaps its all swings & roundabouts and snakes & ladders... According to the Daily Mail we are surely all doomed anyway, and in a multitude of ways at that, and I believe everything it says. So enjoy being socially responsible while you still can.

I pick my investments based on interest rate. I tend to only go for 12% as that equals 1% per month. I never holds loans to full term which reduce's my risk a little. Most of the time I don't even read the loan info.
