Nice observation, Blender. As it now stands, stars and titles have been dismissed, except new members are shown as "New Member" until they enthuse to the extent of five posts. Company representatives still show five stars - that's under consultation. "Likes" are currently disabled. (Personal opinion - if you really like something, say so. Don't just click another box on the internet...) I may not have anything to add to a thread, so don't want to clutter it up with 'me too' comments, but I might still want to give a nod of agreement towards the contributor. That's the value of 'like' in my opinion.

You just did it, and very much more nicely and effectively than the poster seeing a number in a box increase by one. But the function is easily switched back on if there is demand for it.

I'm beginning to agree with you in that only the contributor gets to see that the like applies to a particular post. For everyone else there would be just a total of all likes from all contributions.

Wow! Change to improve the board made after a member suggestion and a short discussion. And the moderators stand out more with those stars. I hope others are happy. I have not been that impressed since the reinstatement of Old Grumpy. (That was a 'like', better than ticking a box? The board will look better for having a few likes sprinkled through the text, IMO).

If ever there will be a reinstatement of any grading system (though I don't see the point of it) I think it should split 50/50 between say likes & number of posts, that way it reflects both criteria of anyone's contribution to the forum.

Well, I would have liked this to show my acknowledgement, agreement, and or support (also useful for 'nice one' type acknowledgements too), but now I'm cluttering up the forum with extra long quotes, re-quotes and posts instead. Can we have the 'likes' back please.

Perhaps it should be balanced with 'hates' I'm not going to go to war over the change... yet that is. Likes are also an impromptu 'vote' on things. As you say leave it a while and see what happens, if everyone starts to go back to the FC forum we'll know it's failed...

Personally I'm in favour of "likes". Its a quick way of showing appreciation without clutturing up the thread.

I didn't much like the stars, but I like liking a post without having to post separately that I like it and I like being liked (when I am). And stuff. My camera's got a Leica lens which I like. But wearing Lycra I don't like - even on my bike, like.

Does anyone know how to construct a poll? At the risk of repeating myself (similar posted on another thread) - it seems the like the 'like's are the most vociferous at least at the moment, but maybe the silent majority don't like them?

And now I'm quoting myself - whatever next . I've just found out that only forum administrators and those who have 'been assigned the appropriate privileges' can start a poll - so over to you.............

The OP was not about likes but about stars and 'seniority', which has gone. I prefer to see the written likes and the 'me toos' - else how do we know which views find favour? If the like button is just a quick personal appreciation of a post then I cannot see why those who wish to use it should not. So I have voted for it though will not use it personally. How could I tell all the moderators with a like button how wonderful they collectively are, when only one writes the post?
