I have a spread sheet I use to track my various P2P sites balances - its a Numbers (MAC) spread sheet. I regularly update the running balances for each site and total up the balances. I would like to have a function that copies the opening balance so that I can compare the updated balance to give the periodic increase/decrease?
It is not as simple as referencing the totals cell of the column as that will increase as I update each P2P site balance. It is an opening balance on sheet opening I need.
Any ideas??

I've never used Numbers, but it sounds like you want to paste by value. In most spreadsheets this is a standard function. Copy the cells and then instead of clicking paste, click options and one is paste by value, or paste special and one of the settings will be by value.
This is quite easy to put into a macro so that one press will automate the process. I normally have today's date somewhere(=today()) and so the macro can copy that at the same time. What I usually do is insert a new column, copy (by value) the date to the top of that column, and then copy (by value) the data I want into the column.

If you upload it (obviously without data!) or PM it I will happily take a look as I am a bit of an Excel geek.
