Just tried registering accounts for myself and my partner, both failed the automatic identity checks (we've been resident at the same address for over 20 years, both on the electoral role.)
Fair enough, so I would expect to send in copies or originals of proof of address and ID (bank statements, photo ID - passport, driving licences) but no. Apparently we need to send/upload certified copies of these documents.
Sorry, don't have the time or inclination to spend money getting certified copies of documents, so we won't be investing.

Hi morpork , I'm sorry you're having trouble onboarding with Property Crowd. Seeing as you and your partner are UK resident, the automatic identity checks should be relatively straightforward - i.e. no need for certified copies. I was wondering if you might give me a chance to investigate and resolve this issue for you. If you could send us your personal details (e.g. name, date of birth, address and the email you tried to sign up with), via an email to info@propertycrowd.com, I will have someone look into this as soon as possible, and we should either: a) be able to have compliance manually verify your identity, or b) find out what is causing the issue, at the very least. I received a phone call from yourselves about an hour ago and it appears the problem was due to an issue with the address form - it failed to pick up the address selection, and gave no error or indication that anything was amiss. Something for the techies to fix I guess.
We've now been approved to trade.
All credit to PropertyCrowd for getting on the blower and sorting it out.

I have just uploaded my certified passport and also a utility bill.
Says "3 minutes remaining" which I doubt as it is 20.41 on a Saturday evening!

As you probably already suspect, "3 minutes remaining" is a guide for investors who are UK-resident and for whom the automated online ID checks should wave them through painlessly. I appreciate your patience and cooperation in sending us your certified passport and utility bill, and will have someone look into this asap with a view to having you all set up and ready to go by Monday morning. Very straightforward and to be honest for a non UK domiciled person I thought the requirements were ok:
1) A passport verified by my accountant with a date and contact details for them 2) Utility bill the same
Nothing more than I have been asked by Assetz/ LendInvest/ Funding Secure etc.
