Hello together I am writing my p2p blog www.p2phero.com in German for some months now. Recently I have begun to publish in English as well. Now I am asking myself, if what I am doing is understandable and benefiting for my readers (google translate isn't). My English posts can be found here (menues etc are not yet translated). I do not expect that you give me inputs for text variations etc. I would be happy to know if my posts are understandable and reasonable for you native speakers, or not. My mother tongue is Swiss German, so I am glad to receive feedback. Thanks |

Looks fine to me - much better than some of the English I have to deal with in my day job (some of it from allegedly native speakers). I would probably have guessed you weren't British from reading it for the style/precision as much as anything but that is no bad thing  |

I took a quick look at SS blog post and on the whole have to say it's very good. There are some minor errors that I could pick at, for instance the following:-
These changes of rules has lead (should be "have lead") that (should be "to") 3 loans (PBL074, PBL075 & PBL081) als (all? a typo?) have been (should be "being") marked as defaults.
But is it understandable? Yes. Absolutely.
Please don't misunderstand me, I am always incredibly impressed by anybody who has more than a cursory understanding of a second language!

I agree. It's perfectly understandable; any defects are very subtle. I also encounter much poorer use of English in my day job!

Odd little errors present, I spend a fair bit of my time correcting foreign learners English and this would get maybe a couple of corrections per paragraph. The style is a little odd, but again you are working from a different language mind-set. The trick to English is to "keep the structure as much as possible simple" no "keep the structure as simple as possible"  Certainly very readable and understandable and that is the main thing. Keep it up! |

Thanks to all of you for your very appreciated and supportive feedback. I am happy that I seem to be on the right track. I will check more carefully for typos, but the most problems I have with the use of past tenses (yup, odd structure here) etc. But as it seems we all can life with that Maybe I should just write an article in English from scratch and not translate the German word by word. This might explain some of my odd style. But at the end, I am coming from a different language mindset, so I guess some of the odd style will remain. Very good example @bobo If you had asked me which one is correct, I would have picked the 2nd one. I swear my English teacher at school would have given the same answer lol Thanks again to all of you |

Nice, didn't know itaki. I will use it as well to fresh up my French and improve my Spanish. Some really great grammar stuff there
