Anyone else go; what did you think? There were a lot of investment which by their nature make me nervous - mining, film making, whisky and novel fin tech. On one of the side stages there were some interesting presentations by small companies. I think I saw Wisealpha, but apart from that it wasn't really P2P.

Yes - have attended this for a number of years now.
More financial companies, "tax shelters" and financial advisers these days, in addition to the usual "pre-revenue" natural resource and single product biotech/pharma companies (you are correct to feel nervous). Always interesting to walk round the stands - but you need to manage your expectations. I generally go to these conferences in the hope that I might find one company worth investigating further when I get home. Jim Mellon is always a thought-provoking and entertaining speaker, and I admire the way he sticks his head above the parapet and makes his recommendations every year, even if they don't all go to plan. I suspect he makes asmuch money from his writing as his investments...
Had a good chat with the WiseAlpha founder. I seem to recall Funding Secure were there last year? New p2p platform Huddle were there for their first public outing - those familiar with Access Commercial Finance via Ablerate and Moneything may struggle to avoid a wry smile....
There were two companies there worth taking a good look at - Avation (a small aircraft leasing company based out of Singapore but UK listed, originally a specialist in ATR turboprops but now also 737s & A320s), and Plastics Capital (plastic bearings, mandrel rods etc). I should declare that I have holdings in both, but do your own homework!
ShareSoc were also there adding some respectability.
Good value for a free ticket me thinks.

Thanks for the info regarding ACF and Huddle (see huddlecapital.com/about-us/). Currently open to business lenders with an offer on the homepage that may interest those lenders operating through ltd companies). Retail customers to follow by the looks. What does this mean for the security of the loans offered by ABL & MT???Interesting
