I had a phone call today. It went on for about 20 minutes. It consisted of a man telling me all about the plight of South African gold miners and what a wonderful investment it would be to sling them a few quid to buy equipment for them and share in the proceeds. He was VERY insistent as to how much I'd make for my first 'investment'
The reason I post this in here is that he told me that he'd got my details (name, phone number, email address) from Saving Stream...

These scamsters are unlikely to divulge the name of who/where they really got your details endure, as I'm sure you know. I'd wager they've either got it in for Lendy for some reason or just picked the name at random?

They didn't say Lendy they said Saving Stream. The reason I posted here is to give SS/Lendy a heads up as to the possibility someone is doing something dodgy as I only have a little cash invested in a P2P and it's nothing to do with SS and it's not been mentioned on here or anywhere else online.
I did register with SS but I've not invested any money with them.
Someone allegedly from SS called me a couple of times a few months ago but haven't called since.

Imagine you picked a member of the population at random.. the chances of them being a Lendy investor are miniscule. It seems just too unlikely. It will be interesting to see if anyone else gets this call; that would tend to confirm a leak. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Possibly a coincidence but MD, the borrower of the now redeemed PBL134 loan, has a history of these gold mining equipment investments - and failing to return large amounts of investors' funds.
EDIT: To be clear - when asked, MD was confirmed by Saving Stream (Lendy) as being the same person wrapped up in the long-distance scandal, uncovered whilst conducting due diligence of the loan, prior to go-live.

I'd be surprised if they said where they actually got your info from, but I'd be even more surprised if they use SS as their default response to that question. To me, it sounds like SS have leaked data.
Make sure you've all got your 2 step verification turned on!
Can someone from Lendy please can you confirm that you're storing hashes of passwords and not the passwords themselves, not even in an encrypted form.

Hi, we have not had any other enquiries on this matter, so please ignore. We take data protection very seriously but I will investigate to see if I can find out any more. Meanwhile, stay safe and use the 2-step security verification.

They didn't say Lendy they said Saving Stream. Which, in itself, confirms they really don't have any kind of relationship there.

I wonder if this is potentially what triggered the recent name change from Saving Stream to Lendy? ....Saving Stream became aware of a data breach, and instead of being open/public about it and notifying lenders that their details had potentially been compromised, they simply changed their name instead, to try to distance themselves/avoid embarrassment when it became public? As fasty quite rightly said; "Imagine you picked a member of the population at random.. the chances of them being a Lendy investor are minuscule. It seems just too unlikely"

Any bank statements gone AWOL recently...? Or been binned un-shredded?

Hi, advice with any calls like this is to ignore and hang up immediately. Do though please let me know if you or anyone else get a call, as it will help us get to the bottom of it.
I can confirm that we store hashes of passwords and not the passwords themselves, not even in an encrypted form.
