I am unable to understand why anybody with a minimum discerning power can still be in FC. Sorry to be direct. Just read the forums.

I am unable to understand why anybody with a minimum discerning power can still be in FC. Sorry to be direct. Just read the forums. Probably because it works. Easy to manage, constant loan flow/easy to diversify, most loans are amortized, minimum cash drag and despite all the negatives you get the advertised rate.

I remain with FC, I have few illusions but it provides a solid non-property return for me. >>>just read the forums My take on the anger towards FC and more latterly Lendy is that it does distort perceptions. Anger on this forum is often because platforms have been caught making mistakes. A lack of anger on this forum may be because the platform is genuinely better or may simply be that the mistakes have yet to emerge. My favourite platforms would be mature platforms that are coping with inevitable defaults - eg Assetz, Ratesetter and FC - Lendy is off my list until it deals with defaults. Jack P

Wisealpha is on the fringes of p2p lending but has a far superior model to the likes of other P2Business platforms like FC. I know I am lending to highly established companies e.g Virgin or Pizza Express with vast amounts of assets on their balance sheet. As a lender I also know I have priority over these assets in case of business failure (senior secured)- all information is freely available on their website about the companies financial status. Secondary market with decent liquidity, rates in line with much riskier p2p lenders. Extremely user friendly platform, informative and reliable/honest customer service team.

I am unable to understand why anybody with a minimum discerning power can still be in FC. Sorry to be direct. Just read the forums. I'm still in FC though my balance has been static (more or less) for over a year and now that they're withdrawing from property loans I expect to wind down - I don't think that they give enough information on SME loans, and the average quality on the newer loans is such that it's not worth the hassle looking for the occasional gem. But the positive points for FC include 1) Well-financed, so even with their rate of cash burn the shorter term platform risk looks less than most other platforms. 2) Good deal flow, so you can build a diversified portfolio quickly, or at least could if you could find acceptable loans. 3) Liquid secondary market. 4) Default statistics presented, and default rates acceptably low - in spite of the skepticism people have about their ratings they've been successful in managing the overall default rates. (The worry is that they've stored up problems for the future by relaxing standards.) And (for those willing to do it) 5) You can make money by grabbing D/E loans are they appear, and reselling them at a premium on the secondary market.

With WiseAlpha are you lending to established companies or are you not lending to WiseAlpha directly who then give you a note/Iou for your investment? If so does this not raise the risk of the platform?

Loan security: Funding secure - all loans are asset secured, There was one unsecured FS loan a couple of months ago. 15% 90k loan to a high profile individual who represents a popular brand. Don't know if it went live or not, but it was gradually filling up. Some people would go for anything that displays 15%

Apps: Funding circle. The only platform offers a decent app for iOS users. Does not offer full functionality Not the only one. Lending Crowd offers the same app.

If so does this not raise the risk of the platform? As far as I understand it the notes are issued by a separate company who if the platform operator (Wisealpha Technologies) went bankrupt would administer the wind down of the loan book. From the FAQ: "In the event that wiseAlpha Technologies Limited went bankrupt all un-invested member money and member investments in Notes would not be affected and would continue to be administered until the investments in wiseAlpha Notes mature. This ensures a separation of investor.money (held and invested at wiseAlpha Limited) from the main operating company (wiseAlpha Technologies Limited)"
