Does anyone hold any cryptocurrency that could recommend an exchange or way of purchasing ethereum from the UK.
I'm interested in a modest speculation with some of my p2p earnings.

My daughter is really happy with Bittylicious. I just compared reviews for Coinbase and Bittylicious. Bittylicious wins easily for people in the UK. But don't take my word for it. I haven't tried it personally.

Depends if you want to hold 'physical' but IG Index has a spreadbet/CFD which replicates the underlying.
If I were investing, I'd be drawn to this method as it strikes me as less 'wild west' than some of the bitcoin platforms.

After a young-un at work was trying to involve me in it last year i tried searching for who invented Bitcoin. And while there were some fun stories & mysteries to read it did not exactly fill me with confidence but it does seem to have caught on and prices have gone up fast.Do wonder if something that evolved this quick could disappear just as fast and also with the association of what it can be used for, how long before governments or police etc start looking into it more.Looking again today would seem Ethereum is getting the better press.

If you want a Bitcoin tracker try : XBT Provider AB Bitcoin Tracker EUR (BIT-XBTE) - I bought via the HL platform. I had a minor dabble recently and made (cashed out) 20% in a week (pity it was only a £2K stake - but it was solely to check out the ride). It lists on the Stockholm Exchange and is denominated in Euro - but the exchange to GBP is automatic when you buy/sell. However, whilst I'd like to think that was brilliant trading that returned my 20% in a week - I rather suspect Lady Luck was on my side (for once). I think speculating is a better description of than investing when it comes to buying/selling Bitcoin - the volatility is huge. Be aware the Stockholm market closes 10 minutes earlier than LSE - if you wanted to sell at the end of a trading day.

I have read very mixed reviews regarding coinbase especially recently where their platform/servers don't seem to be able to meet demand and people struggling to withdraw. Bittylicious is an option I hadn't come across, I have a lot to learn and read a lot about holding your bitcoin offline to protect from hackers, the wild west it would appear to be!
The Bitcoin tracker is very interesting and an angle I hadn't even contemplated, however I am only registered with the recently launched Vanguard UK platform for funds so have no access to it unless I sign up to another site such as HargreavesL.
I would be interested in holding a little Bitcoin but it's Ethereum which really interests me as there would appear to be significantly more room for growth, having said that I know it's wild speculation and would only be placing a relatively small sum from my P2P interest.

Not sure if there is significantly more room to grow for Ethereum, at least in comparison to Bitcoin, market cap at $34bn as opposed to $42bn on coinmarketcap.com/

I've already missed the boat! The market cap is actually closer than I had realised, although I'm more staggered by the 877 Cryptocurrencies listed .... outrageous!!

Don't want to put you off speculation, as I'd feel bad if it rises 35x more! 877 is a lot... we should make a P2P lending one, put all repayments and defaults on the blockchain, give all the coins away for free to forum users with more than say 20 comments/upvotes :-)

Does anyone hold any cryptocurrency that could recommend an exchange or way of purchasing ethereum from the UK. I'm interested in a modest speculation with some of my p2p earnings. I use coinbase to buy my bitcoins, Ethereum and Litecoin. I then use poloniex and bittrex as exchanges for trading for other altcoins. Beware though you pay fees all over the place if you are buying from the UK which can impact any gains Coinbase charges 4% for a debit card deposit. You can reduce this by doing an SEPA transfer from your bank - then it depends what your bank charges. I use First Direct - £4 charge but only possible by phone or Fidor - £1.49 but a lot slower to process funds You also will pay for your GBP to be converted to EUR on coinbase and again to be converted back if you withdraw money. Once you get into it - you can look at tethering your cash. I am no expert and it does all feel a bit like the dutch tulip stock market bubble at moment. There are a few coins I have invested in as I believe in what they are trying to achieve. It does seem like everyone is now getting in crypto coins now as a means to make some quick cash which I guess is another potential sign to get out ;-) Feel free to ask any other questions
