Nope, there are no "hidden sub-forums" in there, and when I just looked there were loads of posts marked new, so I suspect the problem is local to you. Have you tried clearing your browser caches and force refreshing (Shift F5 in Chrome, I'm not sure what it is in other browsers)?

What happens if you look at the desktop version of the site on your mobile?
EDIT: And it only happens on the FS forum? That is really, really, weird.

I know that you can cause that sort of thing by going into a board, 'select all' (threads) and then 'mark as read' and select the 'forever' option, but if you did that I don't think the higher level would show anything as 'new' either. You could try select all and mark as 'new' .. if that doesn't cause some to show up as new threads then you have a very odd problem indeed (if it does, you may want to mark them as read before you drown in old posts). One assumes you haven't got any 'bot readers or scripts running?

I'll come back to the mark as new option in a bit.... That's for marking all boards, I was referring to marking threads (all, or just some) - go into the board, use the check box(es) to select threads, and you should have a mark as read option, with time periods as a drop down. p.s. you don't have this option unless the thread has unread items (so you may need to mark as new first) and the check box is not always obviously present (hover just left of the thread title).

I've reproduced the effect of seeing 'New' at board level without any of the threads on that board showing as 'New'- but it may just be superficially similar and not the root of your problem...
Using my phone just now, I entered the 'General' board to view a new post on the F(C)A. Without thinking I then left that post by pressing the back button. Sure enough 'General' still showed a 'New' flag. However, on entering that board again, none of the posts showed up as new.
As I say, it's like your experience, but may not actually explain it.

Sounds like somehow some/all of the FS threads thought (maybe incorrectly) that you had marked them up as 'read, forever' .. although why the higher level was showing new posts I dunno ('glitch' springs to mind) - normally the higher level will agree (which is why we mark threads as 'of no further interest' in the first place .. so the forum doesn't get waved at us again).
