Given the number of student accommodation loans on the platforms, some of you might find this interesting as from an unbiased source www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-40581643As far as I can see, demand from outside the UK is relatively unchanged (EU demand down a bit, Other up). UK domestic demand has dropped, but mainly from mature students. It does not look like there is a significant change in demand for accommodation other than perhaps expected, especially with brexit etc. Anyone read it differently? Most of these units are of course sold (pre-sold) to investors, so it's their demand that is the driver.

quite a few of the p2p-funded student blocks are in 'second tier' cities that are probably not attractive to overseas students and so targetted at UK students. I've been worried about the student flat boom for some months :-(

To the extent where some really good restaurants are popping up I still share your concern though, It just feels like mainstream financing does not want to get involved with the sector and perhaps know something we don't.

All universities have staff whose job involves marketing to foreign students. Some of them are, obviously, better than others. This is where the universities get a large swathe of their income from - the overseas students are effectively subsidising UK students.
