Why do these threads always start out as serious debate, but soon descend in to pointless noise? You could say the same about some threads descending into IT and computing gobbledegook or when some self appointed authorities expound unnecessarily complex theories about investing plus the gazillions of suggestions for improving a platform.  may be we should ask the gardener for his thoughts as he seems to be doing ok

I'm still struggling with the title of this thread. I don't think 'safe' and 'P2P' belong in the same sentence.

I don't think that safe and interest earning above inflation are to be found anywhere, Index linked gilts/bonds/national savings used to fit the bill, but I'm not sure that's true any more. P2P and safe in the same sentence is definitely oxymoronic.
