I guess there won't be much chance to ponder the inner workings of FC's IT soon, so I thought I'd share this...
A while back I had a purge of all my loan parts that were sell-able but had comments on them (all innocent comments, I hasten to add, I was just irked by having non-rogues in my rogues gallery) and sold them all (at par I think).
Anyway, after buying a few loan parts yesterday, I noticed the number of loans with comments had jumped by about 10. Suspecting I'd been sold a load of pups, I had a look but no, they were all innocent comments. Looking at the loans, it turns out I'd got a part of each in the original auction, so if I'd held it when it got the comment, I'd have sold it in my purge.
I went looking in my sold loan parts page and, while some were there, most weren't in there at all, even though I must have sold my previous part. What's more, for all the parts that were missing, the new part I owned was the same rate as the one I'd originally held. So I suspect these were the same parts I'd originally held, sold, and then re-bought and I'd uncovered a strange bug where if you do this FC's system forgets (or hides) the fact that you'd sold it. I don't suppose they'll bother fixing it now, though!

This sounds a very worrying bug to me - have you sold at a premium! If so then FC will need to refund you! This is the sort of problem that indicatest, to me, very poorly written code and it will probably take a great deal of IT time to find and fix the problem (between the Salsa and free booze that is)
Do people really expect this new system is also going to be bug free....answers on a digital postcard...

markr maybe it's just you. You should apply to go on "Who Do You Think You Are", to see if you end up as your own grandpa "Many many years ago, a lender on FC Must have sold me several loan parts, which I purchased all with glee Due to changes at F-C-H-Q I've dumped the piggin' lot They've been picked up by mark-r and his F-C-purchase bot ...." etc ... There's nothing really to stop this happening, as once you've sold the loan part, and received the outstanding interest from the new buyer, you no longer have exposure to the loan, so are free to buy back in later.

yes it rather sounds like you have sold and then rebought the same parts or parts from the same loan, you sell off the part you have and therefore are no longer taking part in that loan, but if you are auto buying then the system will just buy any part of that same loan back as it's no longer a loan you have exposure to and falls withing the parameters your willing to buy at. This is why you have to be wealthy enough to have your own "screw everyone" software if you want to do buying and selling on FC, speculation is not in the reach of us mere mortals.
