Interesting, you can ping the server and also tracert through to the domain.
So their website/server is there, possibly a DDoS attack or a hung DB.

Thought I would ask here. Problem: Non UK resident, have son and want to add a monthly amount to a portfolio for him. Similar to this: www.ig.com/uk/investments/smart-portfolios/what-is-an-ig-smart-portfolioI have already bought him a few hundred pounds for him in an EFT tracker BUT the fees are about £15 which on £300 is a bit steep. Is there anything available similar to this? I have also looked at Fundsmith but they are very UK centric. Mike

I use IG for trading (a hobby nothing serious) and they accept Paypal as a source of funds.

I've drawn down about 70% in the last 6 months due to the low number of loans coupled with the sub 6% loans from last Autumn onwards. I really love everything about LI except the loans ;-)

@bobo makes a lot of sense when he talks about S&S and I 100% agree with him.
I don't tend to read may investment books as they are always yesterdays chip wrappers but many of the people I agree with are longer term investors who preach the same rules, invest long term and review once a year. If a correction comes about, buy your funds/ stocks at a lower rate and add rather than sell (never ever sell during a correction).
My breakdown is as follows:
15% P2P and Factoring 33% S&S 28% My property (mortgage almost gone) 27% Others (including a few years cash to live on)
My plan is to "live off" P2P and Factoring within the next 2-3 years and allow S&S / others to appreciate to point whereby I can switch to the 4% rule and quit.
Make hay whilst the sun shines as they say, generating 12% returns (before losses) which is compounding weekly, my issue is balance between portals at the moment (I am using mainly AC, FS and LI).

I am still waiting on other loans to clear before moving some of my funds into PC. As is always the case (end of Feb repayment) is now becoming end of April and beginning of June so my initial investment hasnt been made yet.
I like the platform and think if the flow of deals is maintained it has a decent return (something LendInvest could do with looking at).

Hi oldtimez I started with FS a few months ago (December actually) having been with LendInvest for around 12 months funnily enough. LendInvest gives you a very simple to understand proposition, Stick your cash into some fairly safe loans, get paid your interest every month and fingers crossed you get your cash back. My major gripes with LI are that there is very little communication regarding upcoming loans, existing loans or extensions. This gives me a few issues: 1. Distribution of risk. If I have £10,000, I have no idea to stick this into 1,2,3,4 loans as I have no idea what is on the horizon. 2. Extensions. No prior indication of whether loans are due to be repaid or extended. 3. Lower and lower returns. From a peak of 8.5% to now loans in the low 5%s. FS has a more fluid SM, communications system (notification of new loans prior to them appearing on the platform) and the frequency of loans is a lot higher. On comparing the two, I would say dip your toe. Spread your cash over plenty of loans (I aim for a minimum of 30) and see how it works for you.

Not sure if this adds any help but I use my accountant to introduce me to banks, financial services and the like. This way I tend to end up talking to the right people who understand where I am coming from.
I've run companies since I was around 25 (a lot older now!) and this was always an issue until I started going through the accountants I used. Then everything stopped being an issue.
As an aside, I think there is a market for mortgage companies and the like to offer services to early retirees...

I recently joined Ablrate and also Property Crowd, just waiting for some LendInvest loans to clear down before moving onto those platforms.
I was thinking longer term, are we going to be seeing 8% average which in turn pushes people towards GEIA and GBBA.

I have been swapping some of the loans around and have managed to get to 11.1% from 10.8% thanks to the HNWI dumping everything on the MLIA.

Not as experienced as many but my rule of thumb:
Diversification per platform so I have a minimum of 30 loans (3%) per platform. FS is my favourite as my loans are only about 1.5% of total value per loan.
These are prerequisites before investing but give me what amount I am investing (e.g. £5k per loan limit).
Then I look at the trade between Type of Security vs LTV vs Return.
If I see two loans coming onboard and I only have a certain amount to invest I usually go 50/50 to spread risk.
So far I have been lucky as my duedil is very sketchy ;-)

I have RIT and highly recommend them. It is cheap now (went ex-Div two days ago) and worth the price 18.58 Empiric pays quarterly and yield is currently 5.68%, price is a good 10% below its peak
