Yes, I think that's what a lot of homophobia comes down to - men afraid that other men might treat them as they treat women. Well i refute the inference I'm homophobic ( or maybe I'm reading too much into the comment ) I have gay friends and my best man at my first wedding is gay. I notice that you weren't equally bothered about any implication you may also be a misogynist... But, yes, you may well be reading too much into it. I've never met you, and the entirety of what I know about you is what you post here. If you think I may have an impression like that of you, then... OTOH... Yeh, none of those puts you into any kind of discriminated minority group* I strongly suspect most people who say things like that are just irate because they're no longer in receipt of quite so much benefit from discriminated against others. * I am well aware that us men form a mere 49% of the UK population, yet we seem to have done OK despite such terrible oppressive numbers.

The only time i would care is if a gay man tried it on with me. Yes, I think that's what a lot of homophobia comes down to - men afraid that other men might treat them as they treat women.

So let's have a look at the actual stats. ONS Sexual Identity survey 2022 - www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/culturalidentity/sexuality/bulletins/sexualidentityuk/2021and202293.4% 16 and over identified as heterosexual/straight, down from 95% in 2017. Table 1: Most people in the UK identified as heterosexual or straightSexual orientation, UK, 2017 to 2022 (percentage) Sexual orientation | 2017 | 2018 | 2019 | 2020 | 2021 | 2022 | Heterosexual or straight | 95.0 | 94.6 | 93.7 | 93.6 | 93.4 | 93.4 | Gay or lesbian | 1.3 | 1.4 | 1.6 | 1.8 | 1.9 | 1.8 | Bisexual | 0.8 | 0.9 | 1.1 | 1.3 | 1.2 | 1.5 | Other | 0.6 | 0.6 | 0.7 | 0.7 | 0.5 | 0.6 | Do not know or refuse | 2.3 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 2.6 | 3.0 | 2.7 |
Source: Annual Population Survey from the Office for National Statistics So, yes, the headline "increased by 50%". From 1.3% to 1.8% of the population. A less hysterical way of looking at it might be that the proportion of the population identifying as heterosexual has gone down from 95.0% to 93.4%, a fall of 1.7%? But, as registerme and bracknellboy have asked... Does it really make any difference to you, and is it somehow a bad thing?

Being in the UK, I can't read an RT article, since they're blocked. But there's one obvious answer that you don't appear to have considered... The number of gay people who lie about their sexuality through fear has decreased markedly. Be aware the site is right now returning an invalid/untrusted certificate authority... "www.rt.com normally uses encryption to protect your information. When Chrome tried to connect to www.rt.com this time, the website sent back unusual and incorrect credentials. This may happen when an attacker is trying to pretend to be www.rt.com or a Wi-Fi sign-in screen has interrupted the connection. Your information is still secure because Chrome stopped the connection before any data was exchanged.
You cannot visit www.rt.com right now because the website uses HSTS. Network errors and attacks are usually temporary, so this page will probably work later."AIUI, that's because they can't renew trusted SSL certificates, because the payment processors have cut them off, so they're having to use untrusted home-brew. But there's more to it than that. I'm on BT. There's zero name resolution for rt.com whois reports back correctly nslookup returns "no answer"Yes, I could find alternate DNS that includes their servers, but I didn't read or watch their propaganda before they were blocked... (BTW, I have a mate who works for the local Sputnik outlet in a Balkan country - he freely acknowledges that it's all completely skewed codswallop, and would love to find another job, but nobody wants to hire their people...)

A failure to answer may mean assumptions get drawn. I know you're going to love this article for a whole bunch of reasons but do you agree with its main premise? Namely that the number of people identifying as gay in the UK has increased around 50% since 2017 ? Being in the UK, I can't read an RT article, since they're blocked. But there's one obvious answer that you don't appear to have considered... The number of gay people who lie about their sexuality through fear has decreased markedly.

A friend has just posted this on the book of faces.
"So while the U.K. HS2 argument rolls on, our return journey from Paris to Angoulême yesterday took 1 hour 55 mins. The info screen in each carriage said there were 1146 passengers on our double deck train. Nobody was standing ( we all had armchairs) It travelled at 295kph and peaked at 305kph and arrived 2 minutes early. The return journey cost 75€ each."
Paris-Angouleme is 450km, 280 miles, similar to London-Newcastle upon Tyne. Quick look on Trainline finds typical tickets for a couple of weeks time are a snidge under 3hrs each way, cheapest price of £110 return. (TBH, I'm actually surprised it's not more expensive.)

Do unto others.
How would you like it if you got a reference for a putative tenant that omitted such details?
Yes, it's hard because it makes it less likely they'll move out, but...

Not even sure they took much of a notch out of it to give it direction, by the look, so it probably caught 'em by surprise which way it was going. OK, they did cut a notch. Ish. But only a tiddler.

The "vandal" did a good job, thats a hefty tree Mmm. I'm no expert, but I've done a short course in making trees lie down* - and it seems from the pics that anybody with a half-decent chainsaw and the vaguest clue would make at least as good as job of that. Why would you fell it into the wall? Not even sure they took much of a notch out of it to give it direction, by the look, so it probably caught 'em by surprise which way it was going. Only half-surprised they didn't find 'em underneath. If t'were me, I'd have had that side branch (11 o'c in the pic) off first, then taken the trunks down individually, not tried to do the whole lot in one. That's just silly. * - it was made very clear to me that attendance was compulsory before I was allowed a chainsaw. There was not much resistance on my part, because I'm quite attached to my various appendages, and wish to remain so. I have still managed to have an A&E appointment - by poking myself in the eye with a whippy branch off a 3-4m holly I'd just felled. The saw was turned off and 10m away at the time. This is, I am assured, proof that the course was very necessary.

How do you 'steal' a wife? My helicopter will pick you up at 3pm and we can discuss it over dinner at Maxim's. Somebody's been watching too many adverts for boxes of mediocre chocolates.

But it's allright for the sophisticated fishwife Angela Rayner to scream " Tory !". Just sayin'............. Hmmmmmmmm ......... s c u m. Hardly "screamed". But it's strange how that was the only word that caused objections. "“We cannot get any worse than a bunch of , homophobic, racist, misogynistic, absolute vile … banana republic, vile, nasty, Etonian … piece of ,” she said at the event, before adding that she had “held back a little”."" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/sep/26/angela-rayner-stands-by-remarks-calling-tories-Maybe the rest was perceived as a compliment?

GB news cuuently have 11 complaints going through ofcom. Also, the GB news interviewer didn't challenge his comments and was heard sniggering at them.
Sound like Fox and GB news both need to be shown the door.
Original interview, complete with nodding and smirking Wootton... Wootton "apologised"... ...then Fox shopped him as a liar. So now Wootton's also suspended. Couldn't happen to more deserving people.
