re Amerdeep Somal. Not disapointed to see her go. She did make some decent point to the Treasury Committee regarding 'compensation', words that might have come back to haunt her when the Col complaints hit her desk but that is no longer to be. One thing that did strike me as I read each one of her rulings was how common the phrase "I have seen confidential documents ...." was before finding against the complainant. This is of course of direct relevance to Collateral investors. The FCA will continue to insist (as they have to me on many occasions) that documents are confidential ........... their way of shutting down any discussion/examination of the facts. I did some 'fag packet' calcs on Somal's rulings and +80% were against the complainant ............ but a lot of that percentage can be put down to the rules of what the FRCC/FCA can investigate (the rules) and the standard of the complaints. That said a very interesting ruling was issued a couple of days ago. This was raised by a well known thorn in the side of the FCA. What he discovered is that his (and others) emails and complaints were being diverted internally at the FCA for special attention. This would be a breach of GDPR. Don't forget the FOI team has now been taken under the wing of the 'Communications Team' (reputation management). The FCA initially denied that communications diversion hadn't taken place but finally admitted that they had been caught out. In her ruling you will see Somal didn't examine the GDPR aspect (she openly states this) However Somal's ruling (well worth a read) seems to centre on herself and how the FCA misled her but still manages to find that the FCA didn't deliberately mislead. I am far more skeptical. "The FCA initially denied that communications diversion hadn't taken place"How often does the FCA need to be caught lying misleading (there are other cases), before the Treasury Committee, MPs, etc finally realise that the oh so upstanding FCA are, errrrrrr, fully capable of lying misleading?! You'd be forgiven for thinking that those who are entrusted to "oversee" and "monitor" the FCA and its shenanigans, don't really care?

Dishonest & Slippery too (to add to your list). I'm out of P2P as well - not worth the extra 2-3%. I'd have reconsidered for 5+%, had the FCA / FOS been Functional.
"......... had the FCA / FOS been Functional."Ain't that the truth! In fact, I think most of us would be more than pleased if they were simply awake.

Feliĉan Kristnaskon al ĉiuj. Come on, it’s just season greetings. I have plenty of non christians saying this to almost every body whether religious or not, buddhists, muslims and atheists, including cards and presents from muslim friends. 'course, the actual objection here isn't that people are trying to stopping you, Oz, Michael, Berny, Ethel, Marky, Mogish from saying whatever the hell you want to whoever the hell you want... Fill yer boots. It's that you want others to be stopped from saying things to you that don't fit your preference. Why can't they have the same freedom as you? Why do a few friendly syllables different cause you such anguish? Indeed, what's so different between "happy holidays" and the phrase you just used, "seasons greetings"? Neither explicitly reference one particular winter celebration, but both can be taken to include it. A cynic might suggest it could be described as "snowflake cancel culture". My point is that any increasing and general use of "Happy Holidays" may eventually cause the extinction of "Merry Christmas", and that would be the erosion and erasure of a big part of our British history, traditions, culture and being. Some Brits actually don't want and don't condone the ongoing onslaught to erode and erase our history, traditions, culture and being.

Yup, while getting himself to Dubai. I knew this was going to happen and have said so, I suppose most of us knew really. So yea, we were being fed a load of bull all along, this was part of the plan. I think the core of us who have been posting for the last few months knew. A promise of jam tomorrow whilst the family silver was being protected. It's funny how his fan club members haven't been around for some time. All the failed Platforms had their coterie of Hard Core Fan Club Cheerleading Flag Wavers. Who gradually slunk away, some not until the bitter and obvious very end. I always wondered about their "cognitive" and other abilities. Or lack of.

Nobody is feeling "threatened". Gordon Bennet.... Really...? Isn't that exactly what this whole thread's about? "Me, ME! It's all about ME! You have to do it the way I WANT! Any other view is much less important. I'll be VERY offended if you don't use the words I WANT TO HEAR!"Your italicised quote would seem to fit exactly The PC Lefty Wokes?

I don't really care what terms any other person wants to use to refer to this time of year. I think I can count on zero fingers the times a Jewish person has to told me I should, in the earlier part of December, greet them with Happy Hanukkah. And I've never had any Hindu or Sikh push Divali at me, even if I've made a point of celebrating it with them. Nor a muslim push Eid. So I'm not sure why - perhaps especially as an atheist - I should feel a need to push a Christian festival down their throats. Nor do I understand why anyone would see it as some 'threat' to their 'tradition' if someone else doesn't want to stick a particular religious label onto a time of year pertaining to 'their' cultural event. I do find it mystifying when people who proclaim to have strong cultural and/or religious convictions find it threatening/undermining when others don't behave according to their norms. As someone else once said: "It's that time of year when Christians demand the Jewish cashier say "Merry Christmas" to the Muslim customer"*
*Other religions and non-religions are available. That is some tangent bracknellboy

At the risk of stating the obvious, this is 100% why a diversified portfolio across multiple P2P platforms is essential to reduce overall risks. The problem is finding 6 or so P2P that are without problems of some sort and also paying a half decent premium over bank accounts. You do have to wonder if P2P is worth extra risks overall in the current climate. Even 1 or 2 % extra isn't really worth the additional risks much as l like to support P2P. I running down my P2P portfolio and will reconsider in due course once economy settles down and risks subside a touch. The BIGGEST problem of all with P2P of course (after Professional RICS Valuations 🤣 ) is that the FCA does Football Association about policing the sector. They really don't care, and have proven this consistently, chasing numerous horses after they have well and truly bolted from a wide open stable door, and then having the sheer chutzpah to actually Virtue Signal about it! Arrogant, useless, incompetent and ineffective are four not unreasonable descriptive words for this failed and self serving organisation.

NHS dentistry is now a sick joke here in Wales. None available and most patients have no choice but to go private. My son-in-law has a tooth needs filling, but it's apparently beyond the skillset of his private dentist. It has a curved root, so he needs a specialist... at £1,600. For a single tooth. And it would be expected to last just 6-8 years. But because it's apparently in thinner bone, the dentist won't extract it either - the same specialist has to do that, for a mere £600, if he can't afford option A. With the appalling demise in NHS dentistry, we are fast returning to the days of licensed bandits in a mask. I hope he is not in any pain while this all gets sorted out. I've been there many times before. If its a "root" filling that needs doing the issue is both time and skill. I had one or two "root canal treatments" as they like to call it, done by my private dentist here some here ago. I found out he had skipped some key parts of the procedure (rubber dam not used for example) and it took him a total of an hour and a half. That is actually quick. In an ideal world the procedure would be carried out by an endodontist taking around 60 minutes _per root_ and using a dental microscope. That's where the money comes in. I have since had this done by a proper endo (not a general dentist) and have had very good results. What annoys me most about the UK is that even if you do go private, the service is often still c rap. If you don't live in a big city where is your nearest specialist endodontist ? Even then they might practice out of a crappy semi detached house. Why can't a few dentists group together and build a really decent purpose built dental clinic with all facilities and specialities. We really are moving towards the 3rd world "We really are moving towards the 3rd world"And with the past and current rates of uncontrolled "Asylum Seekers" arriving daily, that is guaranteed. I have dug my bunker and have my tin hat on.

"Enforcement investigation has ended"It's a fornicating joke isn't it, the laughing stock, useless, gutless and incompetent FCA couldn't find any evidence to prosecute anyone for Fraud?! Says ALL you need to know about the FCA and their commitment to "Protecting Consumers". I'd love to hear the opinions of the FCA Flagwavers and Cheerleaders on this. Reading your post, it occurred to me that I don't think I've ever seen one of those on this forum. I think it's the only thing that unites us all, which is pretty damming. There's been one or two in the past Ace, but you are right, no "supporters" for some time now. Now why would that be?

[Oz Accent] Enquire of your wellbeing? Look mate, it was enough of a wrench to give you an uptick, and that was only because it's nearly Christmas. Jeez, cobber, don't push it. [/Oz accent] Add to that personal experience, when Mum had her stroke and was in Hospital and then a Nursing home for over 3 years some of her long term friends ie 30-40 years made no effort to see her or even ask dad how she was, what was upsetting was them then turning up at the funeral and acting sad. Events like this show how self centred many people are, " .......... them then turning up at the funeral and acting sad".Yep, but it's good to finally know who the vulgar female reproductive organs are ......

I know nothing about Proplend, do I take it that those 5.6% through to 8.3% figures are the Returns?! If so, that's nowhere near enought to cover the HUGE Risks in P2P Lending. IMHO.

I'm slowly closing my circle of friends down, as yes I agree with you a fair few are odd or behave oddly. I've made a decision that I'd rather have a small number of straightforward mates than a bigger circle where a lot want babying, maybe the first move will be to get a new phone number I reduced my circle of "friends" about twelve years ago after an interesting experiment. Being a reasonably gregarious type I suddenly had a thought that I was always the one mostly doing the contacting and keeping in touch. You know, making the effort. So I decided to immediately stop contacting people, everyone, and wait and see who got in touch. My thinking was that friends would quickly begin to wonder why they hadn't heard from me, so out of concern would make contact to enquire of my wellbeing. I now run with around 30% of my former circle of "friends" from twelve years ago, some 50+% I still haven't heard from.

Except it's not a farce, it is very, VERY serious.
The latest shocker is the MoneyThing Residential Development in Liverpool.
As I have said time and again on here, when I was active in P2P I was able, as a Rank Amateur, to perform a 10 minute Valuation on a given property that was subsequently proven to regularly be plus or minus less than 20% accuracy!
These RICS "Professional" Valuers are not even a joke, they are something far, FAR more serious. And sinister.
Other than complaining to RICS themselves, who will only bat your Complaint away and protect Members at ALL costs, regardless of allegations, any ideas of actions that can obtain justice?
If the RICS "Professional" Valuations had been anywhere near MY calculations, Lenders would be nursing FAR significantly less Losses.
You don't Pay for a RICS "Professional" Valuation, you Buy one.
Geddit!
I thank you.
