We had one tried profiteering for a week during lockdown.
A few older people went back the week after and explained "marketing" to him. That stopped it.

No shortages of fuel in my area however asda limited to £30 last week which helped. Bit of profiteering in Scottish highlands where 1 station wanted 1.70 a litre. I am noticing supply chain issues with no stock available on some web sites I use. Maybe it will change society views on materialism and the need for next day delivery on everything.

I worked in the parcel industry years back, each carrier kept coming up with new delivery options to gain business, the final failure was pre0730 delivery next day , physically impossible out with cities and all it lead to was dissapointed customers. Maybe our expectations are too high.... under promise and over deliver may be worth younger managers considering in future.

something similar the adverts are mostly "oh no baby needs changing and we have no nappies" or "making breakfast and no milk or butter"

Never heard of it, either, but the chances of them delivering here are nil... www.beelivery.com/Doesn't look exactly cheap. £12 minimum order, £1 supp for anything under £25. £3.50 delivery charge plus 99p "service fee". So a £12 minimum order is actually going to cost £17.49... Plus another £3 between 11pm and 6am. Comparing a product at random - Uncle Ben's medium chilli sauce, 450g. £2.45 vs £1.80 at Sainsbury. But, really, is it any different from Deliveroo or Uber Eats? Or, indeed, the local pizza place doing their own deliveries... Gig economy "self-employed" jobs, targetted at students, taxi drivers... www.beelivery.com/Drivers

...and if you live somewhere that they deliver to, the odds are that there's a shop within easy walking distance...

from the article :-
On Wednesday, the founder of 2 Sisters Food Group, Ranjit Boparan, warned that chicken prices would rise by 10%.
"How can it be right that a whole chicken costs less than a pint of beer?" he said.I'd reverse that "how can it be right that a pint of beer costs more than a chicken" I'd argue Beer is overpriced

I note also the RHA being 2 faced
" we need the cheap foreign drivers, that's the cause of the shortages"
Now the government has said that can do multiple runs over 2 weeks
"These cheap foreign drivers will put people out of business"

profiteering all over. Todays government solution is now to bring all the european hauliers in , very short sighted and not solving anything longterm apart from minimising grief with potential xmas shortages. All this will do is cut the throats of UK hauliers. My belief is that we have had cheap haulage/parcel delivery so long now that business and public refuse to pay any more , leading to poor pay rates for drivers , no new industry recruits due to the poor wages , hauliers terrified to pass on increased charges to custiomers for fear of losing business. Maybe the governent should think a bit longer term and get freight on rails rather than on road.

I'd agree with that and in the interests of greening the economy Royal Mail, DHL etc should certainly not be flying parcels about within the UK But the issue is people have come to expect instant service, I sell on eBay in my Postage it says Dispatch within 2 working days ( was one but with covid I went to 2 so was going out less often ). I offer first or second class postage at different prices. In the last fortnight I've had one guy who purchased after 6pm complain the next day that his post had arrived and the item hadn't arrived, another who purchased on a Saturday afternoon complaining that it didn't arrive on Monday. Interestingly both chose the second class option.
