Living over a hundred miles north of London, i have not encountered any queues at petrol stations, no shortages of anything in supermarkets and an abundance of everything i normally shop for... it would be interesting to know the position of other parts of the UK.

I believe we have a supply problem not a shortage problem. We have fuel and food however their are logistics issues in supplies for cities and large towns especially in the south. One thing that never get mentioned much is the fact that the boomers have been retiring in record numbers over the last few years. I know logistics has be hit hard by this with many calling it a day and going during covid, its going to take time to adjust to this and replace them.

"in the south" so why not in the north? It's just volume think about it Greater London is Ten times bigger than Manchester population wise but only maybe three times bigger in size. Most people never think about it stuff is just there but the logistics to supply the smoke is amazing. If you have problems in the chain it shows there very quickly.

But the rest of the country is 10 times bigger than London. and we have not seen any disruption... or very little.

The Uk. You might be lucky to have not had experience but a look at the graphs show there has been an issue. On that basis I can say there is no pandemic as my experience has little personal evidence.

Fuel now OK couldn't get any for a couple of weeks.
Various items missing in the supermarket, just odd things you go to pick up and aren't there: whole chicken, chicken pieces, any poultry other than chicken seems to have disappeared, orange juice, broccoli, tinned anchovies (I know!) and would you believe toilet rolls when the fuel shortage was at it's height. Most things re-appear the next week or so.
Price and availability of building materials: posts and fence panels, met posts, bags of concrete mix and ballast.

I should add the local Shell Garage was 5p dearer than Tesco for petrol and 6p for Diesel, that has jumped in the last week to 12p and 15P
Profiteering anyone.
One of the small shops where my son lives is now struggling and has resorted to a lot of low price offers. Why, because the locals boycotted him after he started charging £2 for a loaf of bread and £1 each for toilet rolls during the shortages last year.
