...and I'm sure that would be very well deserved. Sounds like an absolutely awful cod-retro lash-up based only on "Just look at the NAMES!". Back in the late 90s, at the height of "Cool Britannia"'s British music was leading the world, we came first and second in consecutive years. But that wasn't with the likes of Oasis and Blur... No, it was Gina G's "Ooh, ah, just a little bit" and an American band who'd been successful in the 80s... In 2002, we came 3rd, our last-but-one single-digit finish (2009, 5th, with a former Sugababe). The following year... Nul points. If it's all political, how did we lose all those friends in just a year? You could equally well ask, how did we lose all that singing prowess in just a year? There's a difference between selecting rubbish, and not having good stuff to choose from. The UK had changed the selection method, which only lasted for one year. It was voted by combining regional tv voting results. The artists were a pub covers band who didn't even have a record contract before being selected, and admitted they did badly on the night - allegedly due to a technical fault. 2003's entry... www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAJ62IG3gBo - nul points was too kind to it.

Currently Ukraine are sitting at 7/4, coming in from the 2/1 mentioned in the post below and out from the 6/4 in the post above. At these prices I am considering betting against them. However, someone who has an excellent track record on political betting made this interesting post about the contest: www2.politicalbetting.com/index.php/archives/2022/03/05/eurovision-punters-are-on-a-rollercoaster-ride/I personally agree that it is a combination of quality (in EV terms at least) and friends. It is far easier for friends to vote for friends when they actually have a good song.

I'd forgotten just how bad some UK entries were and are you need a performance to stand out ( Lordi again )
As I remember last year he just stood in a big black leather coat and sang, I fear that this year will be similar, we need an act with a performance etc like for example the glam rock bands of the 70s .
