.... I feel that you should be able to be single minded and a good sport but can anyone name a successful sports person (of today) that can fit this criteria ? Andy Murray Joe Root Marcus Rashford* Raheem Sterling* Lewis Hamilton* Tom Daley Roger Federer Rafael Nadal Gianmarco Tamberi & Mutaz Barshim I'm sure there are others. * These 3 appear to be particularly polarising in the eyes of the popular (ist ?) media/sections of the public: possibly not unrelated to the fact that they are black/mixed race........ Joe Root should come out of that list, given he plays for Yorkshire, and the inbuilt racism in that club means he must have known it was going on, and must have ignored it. He should have reported it not ignored it. And I'd add Christiano Ronaldo, and Rachel Blackmore

The UK is littered - or perhaps I should say not littered - with successful individuals who have decided to relocate overseas. And hardly the only country. Hell, I once bumped into Richie Porte when riding up in the hills around Monaco - an Australian then leading team BMC, but formerly of Team Sky and lieutenant of Chris Froome who himself also lived in Monaco. And based on the 10 minutes we were chatting, very nice guy he is too. As he flew past you, did you attempt to hold his wheel? Very impressed if you managed to! We watch the Tour De France every year, avid fans, and he is noted as one of the nicest guys in the peloton.

He was out with 2 friends: one also a tour rider (can't remember his name, but Irish) and one was a non-racing member of Team Sky (obviously friends from those days). Hold his wheel ? I wouldn't have been able to hold onto his saddle let alone his wheel. They were positively flying !! Still, I would have beat him down the descent if we hadn't held back to give them a head start Yes, he is renowned for being nice, and he seemed a really nice guy. but also he has very very good words to say about Froome. Its a shame that Richie Porte has not yet failed to net a Grand Tour (and probably now never will). The year we bumped into him was the year he had won the Tour de Romandie shortly before and hopes were high for a good showing (as BMC leader). But he then had that horrible looking crash fairly early on.

Outside court, not the airport. Of course, that's in stark contrast to the picture Sky used... ...or the Indy... ...or the Australian newspaper... ...or MSN... ...or CNN... Perhaps they're simply the pics that Reuters' (look at the pic credit on the Beeb) freelance stringer on site put on the market...? Doesn't look like there was exactly a throng of protesters to choose from... And what's the slogan on the woman's black t-shirt? Bring Assange <something>...?

Maybe it's the official Tory party lock down tee shirt: "Bring assortment of booze"
