No not a toast to her. It is not looking good for her health. Drs. announcing 'concerns' and Charles, Camilla, William heading up to Balmoral. Apart from the fact she is probably fed up with a revolving door of PMs, she clearly isn't in a great state.
I'm not an out and out Royalist by any stretch, but nor am I an out and out Republican. Either way, with the current state of the universe on many levels this doesn't feel like a great time for the UK to be losing such an iconic figure and have the potential distraction and disruption that is almost inevitable if she is on her last legs.

It must be bad, she has made the rolling banner on sky sports, next to Hamilton likely to be at the back of the grid, Potter taking over at Chelsea seems to be holding its own as the talking point. > Not remotely a royalist...

A tragic development indeed.
It's look ominous, but let's hope and pray Her Majesty gets better.

Not at all a royalist but she is still a person and I wish her well.

apparently Harry and Meghan are heading to Balmoral (or will be). Is it wise for them to be allowed to see her in her condition ....... that can't possibly be good for her health.

I find it surprisingly sad. But maybe not that surprising. She has been a constant, part of the backdrop of our lives for so long.

I'm not an ardent monarchist, but she served this country well for many, many years. I can only hope her successors do as well. May she rest in peace.

Considerate till the end, waited till half time in the football.
Courtesy of FC Zurich I have also had my first 'minutes silence'. Quite classy of the Swiss in truth.

I don't know why he wouldn't still be known as Charles, but apparently it's not unheard of for the new monarch to use one of their other names (Charles Philip Arthur George). Personally I quite fancy another King Arthur.

Personally I quite fancy another King Arthur. It would be terribly embarrassing if Liz jumped the gun on that. EDIT: OK, Clarence House has confirmed it.

Like many probably I feel surprisingly sad. We all knew she was old and frail but still thought she would go on for a bit yet. She was still doing her duty on Tuesday with Boris and Liz a trouper to the end.

I thought Charles had decided on George VII, might be wrong as I don't follow royal matters. It'll be because the legacy of Kings with the name Charles in the context of the british monarchy hasn't got a lot going for it.
I was looking at wikipedia and found this as well.
"Diana, Princess of Wales, was descended from two of Charles's II illegitimate sons: the Dukes of Grafton and Richmond. Diana's son, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, heir to the British throne, is likely to be the first British monarch descended from Charles II."
