Shuang made the mistake of making a couple of simple text changes to the tax statement just before his jet-lag set in and missed off one semicolon! Lesson learned: Shuang will not touch the live server whilst having jet-lag. Thanks for clarifying your setup and team. I think the real lesson learnt is: nobody should make changes to production directly, and those changes should always be tested. Most transactional online companies would never make changes to a production server first: they would have pre-production/staging, which would be identical to production, and where changes would be tested first, before then be applied to production. You may want to look into implementing such "gated" quality process (as opposed to making changes to production and no even testing the result right away). Would be interesting to know how the customer data/loans is protected and its integrity guaranteed. My key interest is not really on the front-end stuff or whether small downtime is occurring (it happens), but more how the business data is kept secure and accurate, and my personal details/bank details are kept secured. Yesterday's incident probably has got nothing to do with data integrity or loss, but I think exposed some very casual IT processes.

Too true. You don't have any skin in this game (like us). Therefore, I also have to question your motivation.... 1) As per my previous posts, I do have money in the platform 2) My motivation is to understand if my money is safe (I don't really care about yours), and protected by a robust IT platform and processes (which I am qualified to assess). Otherwise, the risk of losing money/personal data is significantly higher than just a few loans defaulting. Hopefully, MT has robust processes or will act on it.

I share your concerns over website security. I would feel a lot more confident my money was safe, if MT and other P2P platforms I'm invested with, deployed improved levels of secured access such as 2-factor authentication and locked linked bank accounts, to prevent unauthorised access to login accounts and ensuring the bad guys can't get a good whiff of my money.
Cybercrime is rife!

I sure hope nothing happens to Ed one day, then we would really be in trouble.

Sorry if this has an obvious answer and proves to be a silly question ... how do you know whether or not a poster on this forum has an investment in MT ?

I do not think that we can know. And, if the user registers here with a different user name than s/he uses on the lending platforms it will be even more difficult (impossible!?).
