The 5yr repayment run is still in progress. Your instructions will be carried out when it has finished. If I am about I often manually invest the incoming repayments into whatever market I want and that jumps the Q for when RS apply reinvestment instructions. Often happens on 1st of the month. When my banana munching chum wrote the above, the 5-year run was about 99% complete. Unhappily it seems to have stalled at that point. I also note that withdrawals made on 29/02 have not yet hit my account, which is unusual. I think RS need to up their processor (hamster) quotient significantly. Certainly before end-April when they'll be hit with a month-end at a weekend again, plus the first May public holiday. P.S. If Simon Hawtin phones me (another thread), he can expect some grumpiness, even without a banana.

My (relatively large) repayment from yesterday has also not yet hit my bank account, after a lengthy time on hold, I got through to customer services who told me it should be in my account by 6pm. He couldn't shed any light on why it was later than usual!

Hopefully they're aware they've outgrown current facility.

Seems month ends really are a problem for RS at the moment.

I've alerted Richard to his new found infamy. And he is keen to keep relatively anonymous by improving processing..... Hopefully some improvements can be expected although it will take time.
Kevin.

In case you hasn't noticed it (which is possible as it's hidden in the members area notices), we are providing a warning that Tuesdays repayment run will probably take longer than usual. Your money won't be available to lend or withdraw until later in the day than normal. Here's a link, although you have to be logged in: members.ratesetter.com/noticeboard/possible_delay_to_investor_repaymentsI did promise to relay your frustrations from the last time the batch didn't run as efficiently as usual, and you can see this is recognised and being worked upon: " Following the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, it’s possible that some investors may experience a short delay while their repayments are processed. We will do our best to ensure that any disruption is kept to a minimum.
Repayments to RateSetter investors are processed every weekday, usually very early in the morning. Because payments are only processed on weekdays, on Mondays we process three days of payments covering the weekend as well as Monday.
This Easter weekend there are two Bank Holidays, which means on Tuesday 29 March we’ll have five days of payments to process. We’ll do all we can to make sure that this goes through smoothly, but we want to give our investors advance warning that there may be a short delay.
We plan to upgrade our back office system soon to help address this issue and we hope to have completed this within the next few months." Kevin.

Also, here's the office opening hours (although I'm available 24/7, for free):

I assume I am not the only one, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a repayment run payout today. On a Bank Holiday...

Presumably the bank transfers etc were made yesterday, which wasn't a bank holiday, if the repayment run actually/usually takes place in the wee-small-hours. I guess it's only a matter of time before the banks cotton on to the fact that they might as well run 24/7. at least for the bits which are automated. Cash points, internet banking, electronic transfers, help desks etc. almost already do. It seems it's only sharpening the quill pens to make statement entries which has to wait for a working day .. if I draw £100 cash today, my bank will show it online today. Then tomorrow it'll be shown as tomorrow, etc. etc until we get to Tuesday, when the date will finally stick, and that's what they'll put on the statement. Just plain dumb. westonkevRS ''for free"? Surely not, you must be worth twice that and more. If credit control can't pay you, have a word with marketing, you are one of their best assets (pale mauve London tube adverts notwithstanding).

Most banking systems are miles away from being 24x7. Things like internet banking, faster payments are bolt ons to systems which haven't really changed in a long time. I wouldn't want to guess when most uk banks are truly 7 days a week, but it won't be this decade.

When I worked at Barclays, about twenty years ago, there was a perhaps mythical VAX somewhere in Barclaycard's infrastructure running COBOL that hadn't been turned off for twenties years. And they'd lost the source code. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it's still there. Or at the least that they still use stories about it to frighten young grads before bedtime . Slightly more seriously, I think almost all main banking platforms still run on a) COBOL and b) batch processes to wit the ATM / account failures we've seen across HSBC, Nat West, RBS et al over the last few years......

Ah, that's reliable, well written code for you! Robust code that's well maintained for current use cases is a beautiful thing. And they'd lost the source code. Dear God...
