Borrowing to invest, is risky enough, then chucking the lot in one high risk platform is brave. Saying that I have most of my savings in just 2 platforms, so I'm a gambler too I too am a massive fan of SS, and am satisfied that even in a platform closure, SS have adequate plans in place. I don't want to diversify into sites I don't like, just for the sake of diversity. I won't give advice, I'm not insured to, but it's your money and after weighing up all of the risks, it's up to you what you do with your money. Can you give me examples of what you mean by that please, Liz.

I'm glad I've made other investors think about this issue. I am grateful for all the input and suggestions. Of all, the joint account solution was the best. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that the platforms offer this option. It would be interesting to hear from any of the platforms administrators, as to whether they've had to deal with any estates and if not what help they would offer the partners in speeding up the closing of accounts with what may be lengthy outstanding loans. Till I have some sort of idea how my accounts would be handled. I may not commit too much more money, which is a shame.

Shown my wife how to get her hands on everything before she announces i have departed this life, had to cover my tracks with my now cunning avatar disguise to make sure no one knows who i really am... If your loans don't sell too quickly on SM, she may have to keep it quiet for quite a while. You may pen and ink a bit by then.

Thanks for the feedback. I have already thought of passwords and have files with all investments etc. with written explanations. In fact I have tried to be as helpful as possible with the exception of the number of accounts etc. to be dealt with. What still is one of my main concerns is whether the P2P platforms would be accommodating in releasing the finds and placing the outstanding loans on the SM themselves. I have heard of 6-12 month probates where for example missing shares materialise or minor financial benefits to the beneficiary hindering the probate. If waiting for loan paybacks was seen in the same light would the rest of the estate be able to be settled and just await payback of loans in the future. Where do the platforms stand on this accommodating or rigid to their rules.

Please help/advise. I am beginning to worry what sort of a mess I'm potentially leaving my wife in case something happens to me. Although in my 60's, I'm very fit and without any major problems but am concerned. I already have a wad of current accounts to take advantage of the 5% deposits and regular savers drip fed from 123 accounts. But these can be closed at a moments notice as can my remaining shares and other investments. If I am right that probate won't release to my wife monies that I leave behind until all the estate is accounted for. Potentially it could take years because of my P2P holdings. Or would P2P platforms voluntarily or with pressure reimburse for any loans held and take it upon themselves to sell them on the SM, or would the executor have to wait like everyone else for the loan parts to sell or be repaid. Anyone had any experience of this or knowledge that may help. I'd love to invest more as I have confidence in the platforms I currently have money with RS, SS and MT but rather that contact them individually at the moment, seek some guidance fro you pro's.

Thanks for pointing me to the graphs Ilmoro. I have to confess to not being able to interpret what they mean, sorry.

How often are loans repaid on time. I ask as I am a relative newcomer to the platform and am not aware of any recent but am of overdue ones. I am not overly concerned except for committing more funds and would like to feel some of the loans would filter back to my account for other loans. I'd also be more relaxed if I thought that more loans would make there way back my account if I needed money rather than relying on SM. Is there any pattern to loans being repaid.

Well explained Ilmoro. Exactly how I've been stitched up on AIM BB's many years ago. As someone in the know, can you answer my 14:00 post please re. overnight interest. As I understand it, interest is paid but SS will not tolerate it if is repeated often.

So, relating to the post re. SM and someone buying Scottish Estate and selling it the following day for 1 days interest. Is it not the case that you DO earn interest from date of purchase and accumulate that interest from Friday say till the money is paid maybe on a Monday. If the money is not paid on the Monday, is the tranche removed from your account and the interest. Or does the interest still remain on your account. I may sound naïve but am trying to understand B&B ing - not to do it mind.

What is the default for the live loan list. At first I see the dates descend and then towards the bottom ascend.

If the loan is talked down and people are deterred from prefunding then those that do would get their full allocation instead of it being scaled back. As I'm only new to P2P it is something I am too familiar with obviously and as I say I am just asking, no offence intended.

Does the practice of ramping / deramping new loans exist on this forum. I ask as someone who's been mugged on penny shares listening to ramping on iii forum. Now I make my own decisions but am still sucked into opinions by other posters (I'm only human) I notice that with 089 pub loan. Early in the thread the talk was of whether the information was pukka and certain investors would steer clear. The latter posts are related to how successful the issue was how posters want more. I know the investors are not necessarily the same people but does the practice exist?
