I've only been on SS for a few weeks and this will be my first month of any real interest.I intend to re-invest it until I reach my self imposed lending limit....which isn't all that far away i had one of those once, now what happened to it.

i have reduced my hours but still work 3 days a week, i use some P2P for income but still mainly invest in other things, land + s&s and of course cash. i am close to retirement anyway at 51 so taking some income looks to be a good idea to me. i also dont like my job so only working a short week helps with that.

mine is now sorted, i dont have that much of a problem with it taking a couple of days, my problem was that i couldnt find the info telling me i would have to wait. with being able to convert QAA to cash in zero seconds i wrongly assumed that the cash would reach my bank account sometime the following day but because i didnt know i had to test it. im happy now thanks to everyone for your replies

i moved some cash from my Assetz Capital account back to my bank on sunday and i am still waiting for it to be credited, how long does it usually take, i dont see the point of saying it takes 1 second to convert from 3.75% interest to cash if it takes forever to then move it to my bank

santander 20000@3% tsb £2000@5% other accounts are available, these are accounts that are guaranteed safe, i would use these up first then look at things like p2p, you have instant access to those funds, as/when you use cash from those accounts start to move cash back from less secure accounts. its a more cautious approach but if p2p does hit the rocks your son is sat with over £20000 in the bank while he recovers his p2p money.
also spread your invested cash over a few sites not just SS and also not just p2p, i should probably suggest using an IFA but to be honest most charge so much and researching your own investments is so easy now i think they are a rip off (just my opinion). you can probably tell from my post that i am a fairly cautious investor. i am in no way a financial advisor but maybe a small amount in premium bonds might be something to look at also as they are safe and you never know your luck. hope your son does well with his investing with your guidance.

i would just like to point out that even your secure funds can be made to work for you via bank accounts like santander 123, £20000@3% so do some reading up and make your cash work for you, if you are a none tax payer make sure the bank know that. You can ignore the last bit as it is no longer necessary. thats true.
