valerieb has a good point. I read this site nearly every day following the p2p threads I am interested in (5), however I only ever log in if I want to comment, like today, so counting the times I have logged in would give no indication at all of my use of the site. Incidentally I take this opportunity to thank all those very diligent contributors who have helped me to make my lending decisions. Sorry if I messed up the quotes. We didn't even have phones when I was born!

We didn't either, then we moved into a new house when I was about six and a telephone, as I believe it was called in those days, was installed in the hall but it wasnt connected. It took my dad about 2 years to decide he could afford the rental contract but he finally took the plunge. Imagine our excitement when the day eventually arrived for the GPO (that's General Post Office for you youngsters) to come and connect our phone, we were so looking forward to ringing up our friends to tell the we had a telephone, not that we knew any of their numbers mind. With the phone successfully connected we waited patently for Father to arrive home and show us how to use it. He came home, walked up to the phone, took a small metal thing out of his pocket and attached it to the front of the phone. He said "that's to stop you lot using it, it costs too much money".............it was a lock! And my teenage daughter complains that she still has an iPhone 5...........oh for goodness sake! Sounds like the story of when we got a phone in the 60's but you forgot to mention party lines where you had to wait for next door to get off the line so you could use it

Although I have been following this thread diligently, it is worth pointing out that for us Footling Circlers DD is a matter of no consequence any more. <sniffle> Sadly true, but we still need a place we can bemoan how many days (or years) various short term property loans are late by, and discuss possible techniques for defeating autobodge's intended aims. 8>. FC of course have the enviable record of having now shut down 3 Fora .. the forerunner to this P2PIF, and two of their very own. FCers were obviously doing a bit too well at propagating the 'I wouldn't, if I were you!' meme.

Well why can't I post on the PF ? I think this pretty much covers it doesn't it really? DD-CENTRAL is a private area that will excludes some (based on a criteria) for the the purpose of DD that benefits the masses. It sounds like this is what the PF has been achieving for well over a year. I propose you try and make progress with a positive relationship between the PF and this forum. No more walls I just found this buried in the history .. thread too long. "No more walls" sounds great to me .. I had a look round here, and I can't see any "walls" against private forum members, nor even any different treatment from the rest of the posters (well, OK, we may have cut some extra slack for people who post a lot, so they got more than the usual 3 strikes before they were out). Does "No more walls" mean that next time we ask some private forum members to moderate, or admin, on here, they will not be forbidden to do so (by whichever equivalent of 'little Hitler' y'all use over there)?? Coz I suspect the last 3 were. Does it also mean that some/any/all people already moderating/admining on here can join the private discussion without having to quit doing the day job??

The mods have had such a hammering on this thread that they daren't move fizzled-out threads to the chat area. Wonder if off topic chatting is allowed on the private forum?

IIRC, as the unfortunate one doing the asking this 'round', it was 5. If you look over the longer term it was a good few more.

Discussion of the SPV has largely fizzled out, so for now this thread has been locked. The mod team is currently a little low on numbers, partly due to me being offline 23 hours a day at present, so concentrating mod input on the other boards is probably wise at this point.
But don't panic, a new thread will be opened in the not too distant future announcing the launch of DD Central, and discussion can continue then.
