Shorting S&P? Your braver than I am. I agree it will likely drop and significantly, but it could rise a way first.
This sums up my concern with shares currently. They generally go up and some PE ratios are apparently not terrible (eg U.K., but that is another story), but taking the US recent records, whilst strong profits in tech, lots of more legacy stock are treading water.
I expect a “correction event”, but don’t know when. Given my expectation of a continuing decline in the value of the £, holding cash doesn’t feel great. I have been trying to reduce my cash percentage for the last 18 months with minimal success, so may have to do something more robust in terms of buying holdings.
Its at times like this that I see the benefits on an IFA. I guess my 8% or so in p2p, whilst returning less than my S&S does help with diversification and provides a better home than 1-3% in pure cash. More to think on.

Interesting thread, never worked this out before, but here is mine. P2P 13% Shares 2% Cash 25% BTL 60% Been in P2P almost 5 years, but only tinkered for the 1st three. but have been reducing P2P since about this time last year. What is BTL?
