Another aspect might be; are u/wers themselves looking at the AM and saying I'm going to be holding this loan full term and backing out whereas previously they may've believed it would be easier to unload. There are atleast two new Underwriters coming on-line, Why not others? From older posts , don't ask me which threads though, I seem to remember comments indicating that u/w cannot necessarily pick & choose which loans to lend to. By becoming an u/w, you are forced to an extent to accept certain terms that limit your flexibility. Not being anywhere to being an u/w,I couldn't verify if the above is true or not though

There must be those (perhaps little old ladies) who are happy to have AC manage the details for them. And maybe they get a slightly better rate, but there must another class who decide for themselves otherwise it's slavery.

My understanding is that underwriters have complete choice as to where they place their money.

My understanding is that underwriters have complete choice as to where they place their money. In that case it's actually more worrying. Either they've run out or, they too might have had their fill of the current type f loans on offer & do not want to over expose, especially with units selling very slowly in a number of loans

Going back to the log-jam issue.
There's definitely a sense with one or two of the AM loans that Lender's feel they might get 'trapped' in the loan seeing there's already a log-jam so they immediately put some of their newly drawn loan on the AM.
Picture it like this, you're going to the cinema to watch a film that you know lasts two hours, you get there and the film starts but immediately you see other cinema goers making their way to the exit and you've no idea why. After a while you become concerned as more film lovers get up while still watching the film and walk to the exit with their heads turned to the screen. Then you realize what's happening the exit is so small that very few film buffs can get out in a given time and as you look at the size of the queue to leave you estimate that it will take about two hours... So you decide to watch the film as you're leaving like everybody else.
Anyone else get this feeling or is it just me?

Cats have always had more fortitude than penguins, have you seen how slowly they walk, but they're better in water than I am... Nighty night.
