Oh god. In their infinitessimal wisdom, Funding Circle have noticed that some other websites use Captcha tests during login, and guess what? "Hey guys, our users would love that, let's do that too!"
Now we have to fight against those infernal tests every time the system logs us out after a short period of inactivity.
When it wants me to click a square with a "street sign", does that include the pole or not? If a "car" encroaches into a neighbouring square by a few pixels, does that count? And what the hell is a "crosswalk" anyway?

And it means we have to load yet more Javascript code (linked to google.com) before the Captcha step even appears.
[When the login screen wouldn't move beyond the username & password, the thought went through my mind that after the FC IPO had produced such disappointing results, had FC gone bust? After allowing global javascript to run, I was actually relieved to see the Captcha icon appear!]
Definitely another disincentive to using FC.

On the Lendy site, Captcha sometimes accepts that I am "not a robot" (not that I do much at all on Lendy these days).
How does that work? I wonder whether FC log-on might eventually work similarly.
Otherwise, in terms of usability and convenience, AC's Authy procedure is less of a pain in the a***. Never thought I would say that!

Google does indeed have a captcha product which simply asks you to click "I am not a robot". It monitors how you interact with it, such as how you move the mouse, to determine whether you are human. A human makes a slowish, jerky, wiggly mouse move; a bot finds that difficult to emulate. They also look at other factors such as IP location and cookies to asses the risk of your being a bot.
As with most captcha "innovations", it probably won't be long before the bot designers defeat it.

Just had about 20 failed attempts on a mobile. This Captcha bs needs to end with extreme prejudice. Which Funding Circle moron thought it was a good idea?

Hmm, must be late delivery of the facility requested back when robots were buying all the E loans .. but we wanted it at the bid stage, not login.

I just logged in OK without being asked to prove I'm a chameleon.

I just logged in OK without being asked to prove I'm a chameleon. The same. Logged in just as normal.

I haven't been captcha'd either - several logins today, all on a laptop. Is it only mobile users getting the treatment?

I just logged in OK without being asked to prove I'm a chameleon. The same. Logged in just as normal. Not an every time event, but has happened a couple of times to me. The eternally helpful chat function confirmed it was a new feature but should only kick in if the incorrect answer is given on the security question. It has been raised with the technical section to see why it is occurring at initial log in occasionally. So basically learn to love it, its here to stay and will probably never work as designed, or maybe I have just become cynical.

To add protection on failure of the three questions sounds sensible and not onerous. VI, do you still have problems if, when you log in, you wear a disguise as a duck or a tree?

Yes I think if it was doing the task it was assigned it would be no hardship to anybody, it just seems a little keen to impress at the moment. I have not tried a physical disguise, but have experimented typing in different accents Brummie seems to give the best results.

I don't think I've ever passed the street sign test. I have no idea if the back of a street sign on the opposite side of the road counts, I am sure I have tried both, nor whether or not to include the pole, nor signs not aimed at car drivers. I hate that test (mainly on ticket websites). I am pretty good at spotting cars and vans, and 50-50 with shopfronts.
