Sorry, but I need to confess to something. I've actually met bracknellboy in real life. And he's certainly not Mark Francois. Quite apart from the fact that he's a lot shorter, and even more less massive, he doesn't flubber at all, and doesn't do a good gammon.

My village pub is mostly shut. It is owned by 2 lesbians who banned half the community for sexism and then went to live in Switzerland, refusing to sell it on. They left a Polish manager who only opens on billiards nights. Perhaps the manager's thinking is that the prevalence of balls on billiards nights acts as a counter point to the ownership by a female gay couple .
Edit: (was intended in the original but somehow got chopped off). I would normally replicate the term lesbian, however its use above gives every indication of having been spat out between gritted teeth, with other "obviously" related connotations attached, so I won't repeat.
Au Contraire...My point was to illustrate that the sexism declared by the publicans was their own devise in order to change the use of the pub. The banned WI has at least three lesbians and various other shades of female. However I do find that people of minority gender groups seem to cause an inordinate fuss about stuff. I think the that Bronya's favouring billiards has more to do with the profits on pints rather than prosecco. The best landlord was Norman , who was self effacing and charming and just loved the lifestyle. I just lost the thread....what was it originally?

The ongoing death by a thousand cuts of Britain's pubs is a real shame (IMHO). The reasons for their ongoing decline are of course numerous and complex, and not just single issue. Beer tax is just one of those things. Nonetheless, consider signing the petition here: longlivethelocal

My top 2 reasons are:
- cheap supermarket booze
- A change in NHS guidelines reducing the 'acceptable' alcohol intake from 20 units a week to 14

I don't go down The Crown anymore because it is sh*te . That's usually why pubs die. Why is Mark Francois an issue?

I see the fat boy is coming for a state visit in early june, no doubt keen to tell us where we went wrong in out Brexit negotiations.
He is going to 10 Downing street to meet the PM, just wonder if TM will still be there?

My brother suggests that at the current rate, the British PM is likely to be Eddie Izzard.

I think in future the Green Party is likely to be a major factor, given concern about the environment.
