Well, even with Johnson and then Raab throwing their principled opposition to the terrible deal in the bin for a chance to have a go in a leadership contest, the terrible deal didn't come close. But it looks like these self seeking hypocrites will get their chance quite soon. The Librarian from the Haunted Library SURELY can't hang on for much longer. I'm hanging my hat on Mr Gove... Quite comical looking but an astute politician.. What do you think? I don't think it'll matter much who is the next Tory leader, rather their future GE success will be tied directly to Brexit. Their support will soften as Brexit softens.
Tories have few people and even fewer policies that impress. Probably why one betting site showed Corbyn as third mostly likely next PM after Gove and Boris.

I think he would function well as a hat rack. In the vein of cometh the hour cometh the man, Geoffrey Cox would seem to have the gravitas and wit to make things happen. good choice, although im not sure his "Brian Blessed" oratorical delivery would last the test of time... The voice is distinctive, I like it. He comes with little baggage compared to most, and has the gift of winning an argument without appearing to offend. Having said that I would look forward to him giving the 'Scottish fat controller' a good verbal slapping now and again.

I cant agree with you here, we are in an British economical position where unemployment is almost non existent, NHS funding is 17% higher www.england.nhs.uk/2019/01/local-health-groups-allocated-570-billion-to-fund-the-nhs-long-term-plan/ the pound is holding well and both the USA and china have indicated that a post brexit deal is on the table and waiting.. the future is looking bright.

So the 2 oldest (living) men in Britain, have their birthday on the same day: tpday. 111 years old. Hopefully they don't ply cricket (one for the cricket fans, but Dicky Bird will be hopping from one foot to the other).
So defying the classic age related demographic analysis of views on Brexit, one of them said:
"My own feeling is that if there were defects, and there were quite obviously defects, we can negotiate on the inside rather than walking off the field with the cricket ball and saying 'I'm not playing'."
Personally I consider that to be quite insightful. On a seperate topic:
Mr Weighton said the most common question he was asked was about the secret of his longevity. But his only advice on the matter was "to avoid dying", he said.
I consider that to be even more insightful.

While Blessed would have the commanding voice needed, I am not sure he would be the one who would best bring the Tory party together. We are overlooking the obvious choice, Olivia Coleman. She is so nice that people would feel ashamed to argue with her. Additionally she is sprightly enough to deftly evade Donald Trump's groping hand with enough polite dignity to avoid a diplomatic incident.

As many have stated, MPs feel their job is to vote in what they alone see as being in the best interest of the nation. DG seems to have forgotten there may be consequences if that goes against a referendum and/or party manifesto and/or local association wishes.
If/when Brexit gets softened, I see this happening on an increasing scale. Happy days

as Remain fingers are gradually pealed away from the cliff edge ,compounded by a hefty boot from M. Macron, it occurs to me that human nature will take over. The BBC will continue to vent spleen and resentment to sabotage any possible unity or positive outcome and in denial will join forces with the EU to make sure the country suffers. Just heard Dominic declare that his version of Beaconsfield Conservatives give him full support and its all UKIP's doing . What a mutt!

The Conservative Party won't be much of a "broad church" by the time you two have finished with it. It will be .... UKIP.

I'm not a trog in a wifebeater , neither is 90% of Leavers, anymore than you are a 17 year old in a Guy Fawkes mask . Most of my university friends hanker after their (cheaper) Normandy second home , langoustine's, 4x4 boots full of wine and pate on the terrace . They are cushioned by education (limited) and money. None of them vote and are in denial of much beyond Potters Bar , even tho they have sentimental worker's roots up North. They are very nice but have the inverted snobbery of the BBC who cannot conceive of anybody having a valid opinion other than theirs. I get the impression from you and them, that Leave = Tommy Robson with a baseball bat.
