Yet again zopa has sent out an email 2 hours before it goes down on a weekend. I'm not sure one could define this as planning ahead. Fortunately I'm all lent out on Zopa and more preoccupied on RS but I despair sometimes that they must have know about this weeks ago. They must have been rushing that one out looking at the mistakes in the email alone.
I wonder what the development teams are also like, quality this isn't in my eyes. Its a shame that they have promised to do better on quite a few occasions over the last few months and nothing seems to change.
I nearly missed it as well but Mrs Aju was on the ball and told me about it.

I didn't see the email but I've been trying to access Zopa all day. It constantly says they're doing upgrades and to "try again in an hour".

Well that's confusing:
Subject: "Zopa.com maintenance"
PLAIN TEXT BODY: "..., your experience matters Do you have 20 seconds to rate us?
Hi ..., Do you have 20 seconds to rate us on Trustpilot ..."
OK. What?
Above posting made me go look at the HTML-gibberish-body instead, after picking through all the HTML and CSS bits: "We're updating our servers .... if you need access blah blah"
ZOPA: Part of your maintenance: Fix your outgoing emails so the plain-text-equivalent actually matches the HTML-rubbish-version you send. Thanks.
(Funding Circle suffered from this for months before they finally fixed it).

Had a look on trustpilot for zopa reviews just seems to be borrowers - not sure if the reviews are from yesterday or today they are up to 10 hours old before I got bored but none seemed to be from a perspective of a lender and none seemed to be affected by the fact the site went down. Zopa has never really seemed to be rsed about the print/plain text side of their website or emails, many sites aren't these days, I tend to use Nimbus for those sites that are particularly bad like Zopa if I want to print something. I have other pdf printer options 3 in fact but most seem to still get confused in one way or another. They just seem to be creating things on the fly and just foist them upon us users and hope they work - not sure they actually have any tester and probably think that developers can test their own changes. I think a lot of web based systems seem to have forgotten that not all of us are on tablets or phones and would like to make copies of documents etc in either print or pdf form. mikeb , Just re-read your comments not sure I am talking about the same thing, my email seemed fine but it was not plain text version. It definitely didn't have anything about reviews do they control that or is it converted by your email server. My email I received had nothing about trustpilot in or for that matter caring about what I think. ... So I eventually managed to get yahoo raw working and you are right i get the message in the raw version ... I find it funny that they said in their mail I read at the start that they were here to help and even posted their contact times which sadly would have been outside the errors for anyone who did not get the email and had issues. The link in the raw text did work for me and it sent me to trustpilot so I did leave a snotty review as well. oh well that's Zopa I guess, too busy fixing things to really care that much about changing their way of doing things.

Zopa are running updates between 9pm and 3am tonight. Expect outages. How do you know I didn't receive any indication of an outage and just came here after being unable to get in to remove holding money tonight - so that's another fail. Why they can't actually tell us is beyond me, I'm guessing they have had to pull down the the system after the updates at the weekend perhaps. It's interesting that it says try again in an hour at about 11:45pm

I saw it announced in my Twitter feed. They should have emailed us like they did about earlier outages.

Yes, not able to get logged on here either.
Sorry, Zopa, the instability of your platform has made my mind up - I will be turning off re-investing and gradually removing my investment. RateSetter, 1 year only, for Mrs C and I hereon in.

Thanks for that but I want a stable platform, not help that won’t be able to help if the platform is unstable.

yes i agree to an extent but one of the things that zopa seems to be good at is agreeing with complainers and pretending to listen and they are good at this but beyond the front team who mean well and understand things from the customers perspective very little if anything seems to change along the way and I believe that there is a team of people in zopa who think they know best and just do what they want anyway, bit like google if you ask me. There have been some almighty under the hood issues that anyone who spotted them got handsomely paid off. The fact that the front end is having issues for me as an ex developer and designer just tells me that there are almost certainly things under the hood going awry as well. I've said elsewhere that mine and Mrs aju's return over the last year has benifited enormously on being able to spot issues with loans and incorrect actions under the hood etc. We are still on Zopa but am more active on RS at present as I understand how that platform works and benefits our investment so I missed this one. Zopa does have a habit of being behind the curve when it comes to server and change management. Sadly this is all a result of on the fly "Agile" systems that have been an excuse for sloppy design and change management processes. frankly I feel its futile to try and help them to change and have given up. I am just waiting for the next fruitful challenge that zopa just throws money at.

I almost choked when I read the latest blog entry, especially when I reached this line:
”Flow achieved. Software successfully QA’d and returned to the team lead for sign off.”
My advice to Zopa?
Time to send all your staff to some ITIL education and implement what they learn.
