"Can human beings change the earths climate?" "NO" not my answer... but chatgpt. No. You asked it "Can human beings stop the earth's climate changing", which it correctly answered "No". If you ask it "Can human beings change the earths climate?" It correctly answers "Yes". There we are. I'm very glad you accept ChatGPT's arbitration, and that we can now put this ludicrous discussion to bed. take it or leave it... you cant stop it. change it? yea ok.

What wasn't what? Actually, never mind. I just wanted to point out that ChatGPT did not say what you said it did in your post higher up; just in case others were influenced by that false statement. I'm aware that it is utterly pointless to try to change your viewpoint, but I appreciate the efforts of others above, who have expertly debunked your previous statements on the subject.

"Can human beings change the earths climate?" "NO" not my answer... but chatgpt. can you read? i posted the info twice. Yes, I can clearly read. I was merely pointing out that the statement you made in the above quote was NOT the actual question that you asked. And, that when you do ask ChatGPT that question (Can human beings change the earths climate?) it gives the opposite answer to the one you quoted (i.e. it says Yes).

Precision and clarity. Furthermore, if you expect to be taken seriously, another desirable attribute is a degree of politeness and respect for your fellow contributors. Suggesting others are unable to read, for example, or are troubled by the simplest concepts, will never get the best out of intelligent people. They will simply ignore you.

martin44 , thanks, you've prompted me to finally engage with ChatGPT. Been meaning to get around to it... I asked three questions in similar style to yours. In question 3, I avoid the loaded and pejorative climate "crisis" or "problem" and simply said "climate". The AI found it more challenging than the first two questions, but handled it well. Should we ignore climate change? Please answer yes or no.
ChatGPT: No.
Is climate change a serious impending problem? Please answer yes or no.
ChatGPT: Yes.
Will humans survive if we ignore the climate? Please answer yes or no.
ChatGPT: The consequences of ignoring the climate change crisis would have severe impacts on human societies and ecosystems. While it is challenging to predict the exact outcome, it is highly likely that ignoring climate change would significantly endanger human survival. Therefore, a simple answer of "no" would be appropriate.

Believing ChatGPT is about the same as believing any random person on the internet, it's been prowling around picking up random stuff and drawing random conclusions.

I'm sure you're right, AIUI it's still training... far more impressive than the bloke down the pub though Also, I haven't yet seen an answer from the robot that I'd take any issue with. So far it has the thumbs up from me. Well impressive.

It was my first encounter also... another question i asked it was. "how mant times has the river thames frozen over and give me the dates" it gave me a long list, but not 1962, when i countered that the thames had frozen over in 1962/3 it apologised.

I agree...the point of the post was to show chatgpt will tell you exactly what it wants you to hear, loads of woky nonsense guff unless you pin it down with a simple "yes" or "no"... thats where the answer becomes more ambigious, because it depends on how you phrase the question, as a few posts above have shown, including yours.
