I understand the borrower launched a 'Defamation - libel and slander' claim against Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd yesterday at the High Court. As my old mum used to say......"the man's a loon"

I understand the borrower launched a 'Defamation - libel and slander' claim against Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd yesterday at the High Court. I imagine that could get expensive.

With all these cases when does he find time to do any paid work? The Court cases ARE his paid work. He is a solicitor representing himself via his own firm, so if he wins his firm (i.e. him) gets his time paid by the losers. The flipside is that if he loses, he is liable for costs of the other parties.

He has paid up before - it was a condition of being able to carry on the action against UB! The fear is that as he has sunk money in the case, that is all the more motivation to keep fighting to the bitter end to try and recoup it.

The borrower has made at least one defamation claim before.
In 2004 the case ended up at the Court of Appeal and provided important case law that's still useful today.

Libel is something uncomplimentary that is written, slander is the verbal equivalent. So I assume Sainsbury have said / written something about him that he takes exception to. Difficult to understand the scenario in which this occured.

I’m surprised he hasn’t tried libel on some of us here after what’s been written about him. mind you, going after a big company like Sainsbury is probably far more lucrative if he wins
