Telegraph reports cases in two new locations in Italy "The daily newspaper Corriere della Sera this morning reports there are two new suspected cases in different regions, one in Florence and one in Palermo, where a woman from the northern city of Bergamo who was on vacation and checked herself into the Palermo hospital."
Same article states "Matt Hancock, the Health Secretary, said this morning that people flying home from any areas quarantined by the Italian government should self-isolate - whether they show symptoms or not - and that he was "pretty worried"."
EDIT: what with Tenerife being affected (see post by benaj below), holiday destinations getting crossed off by the day! Telegraph article from yesterday (may need subscription to view) "Three school pupils who returned from a skiing trip to Italy on Sunday are awaiting test results for coronavirus. The pupils from Torquay Boys Grammar school in Devon were part of a school trip to Bormio, in Northern Italy. The school said all members of the ski trip party, including staff have been asked to remain at home, until the results are returned. "

"UK school shuts over virus fears
A school in Chester has closed after staff and pupils returned from a skiing trip to a coronavirus-hit region of Italy.
Headteacher of Cransley School in Northwich, Richard Pollock, said some pupils who had been on the trip to the Alpine region of Bormio were "showing flu-like symptoms".
Read more here.
Meanwhile some staff and pupils at a school in Huddersfield have been sent home and told to go into self-isolation after also returning from a skiing trip in northern Italy.
The group - 19 pupils and four members of staff - from Salendine Nook High School Academy returned from their trip via Milan airport on Saturday.
Lets hope it remains just "flu like symptoms".

In the meantime markets continue to rise partly on the back of now firmly reduced/reducing daily numbers from China (despite the fact they are fake news) and a belief that central banks will pump unlimited funds into the system to prevent a crash. Hmm ... I have my doubts here, there is only so much papering over a crack you can do. Yes, markets on the rise for past weeks. I think that is highly illogical, despite quantitative easing. Unless of course more and more people are confined in quarantine and cannot continue to consume and spend surplus cash buying stocks instead (small joke despite grave topic ) Is it highly illogical though? Over the years, isn't it the case that the markets have comfortably ridden out the potential pandemic shocks of HIV/AIDS, Ebola, Zika, etc, etc and more strains of flu than you can shake a stick at? Well as the trading trend over the past two days showed it was highly illiogical And in my view that's only the very beginning of the market adjustment for the economic impact.

I see that the 6 nations Rugby boffins are currently trying to work out if it's a good idea to have thousands of rugby fans travelling to / from Italy over the next couple of weeks.

It will probably consist of giving immunoglobulins to boot the patients own immune response until a vaccine is developed. I have a NBC full mask issued to me during my time in the Middle East during the first gulf war. I wonder the reaction if I were to wear it for my shopping trips Similar to this but military grade link

I think I'm right in saying that the number one reason for going bankrupt in the US is health/medical costs. So these bills must be taking that into account it must discourage people from going for a test or getting help. Good luck everyone.

By how much - do we even have a clue ? What is it fundamentally that helps in a clinical setting for this condition? Is it availability of a ventilator? I can believe there are one or two specific treatments like that but there's probably also a down side. If staying in an isolation ward with no contact and following the regime, it may be that things like sleep, food quality and even general happiness may affect the outcome. THe journey to hospital with a high fever probably doesn't help either. I'm not suggesting you're worse off in a hospital but just making the point maybe its only beneficial for the very worst cases. I know zero about medical stuff so look forward to being corrected. it's viral pneumonia. It will eventually pass as the body fights off the virus, but in the interim the risks to those with prior respiratory/other medical conditions are large, there is a risk of secondary bacterial infection, there is a risk of organ failure due to septic shock - these risks are much less with good supportive and interventional care as necessary. ^my bold^ The risk is the number of people needing such care at the same time; can the NHS cope?
