if you are thinking of ordering LFTs from NHS central - think again. I've just tried and they have run out. Sorry, there are no more home test kits available right now.
Try again later.
Or, you can go back and try to book a test site appointment instead.
I guess the need to provide negative test results for certain activities over the next few weeks/longer has probably increased demand somewhat. I tried a few minutes ago and could have ordered (no desperate need so didn't) so maybe they have got it back in action. They were always readily available at chemist, libraries and the like but guess they are this weeks 'toilet paper'. The test is tricky enough already, without mixing up the correct orifice.

I suspect a good number will pester no orifice. Given you only need the number from one to get a negative test result.

Jeez I wonder what they'd call that new variant!!

On the one hand, it was quite busy at the vac hub tonight = good. On the other hand, a reasonably significant number of people didn't turn up for booked appointments = wasted capacity. It has been like that before, but given the circumstances, that's a bit poor.

Yesterday, I saw a page for daily update regarding omicron hospitalisation and death data from the Gov.
At first, it was a bit odd seeing daily updates regarding one particular variant.
It briefly showed two updates and now it cannot be found by search engines.

I'm not sure it particularly matters how many are of which flavour, at least in terms of public pronouncement, so long as the data is being received by the actual scientists who are tracking and monitoring...
Meanwhile...

Now 14 people in H with Omicron - or 389 as Dominic Raab would have it. Not yet a tsunami of hospitalised cases.

It seems there’s a good chance getting “freebies” by joining a “small” private party in London. Getting +ve 2/3 days later.
It appears to be safe, including the person had booster jab. It seems “safe” enough for those taking responsibilities by getting tests and jabbed. No hospitalisation yet.
Life is a choice.
