Well that's one problem solved we usually have some Ibuprofen in the house but had run out and none available anywhere. We do have some paracetamol which seems to be OK to take in the event.

1) Now that the known recorded cases in China are largely resolved, we can see their fatality rate was pretty close to 4%. [3226 deaths from 80881 recorded cases]. www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/china/2) The WHO Director General recently stated, "Globally, about 3.4% of reported Covid-19 cases have died". 3) The Lancet published a figure of 5.6% just five days ago: "We re-estimated mortality rates by dividing the number of deaths on a given day by the number of patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection 14 days before. On this basis, using WHO data on the cumulative number of deaths to March 1, 2020, mortality rates would be 5·6% (95% CI 5·4–5·8) for China and 15·2% (12·5–17·9) outside of China". www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(20)30195-X/fulltextI haven't seen any mention of a rate below 1% (and find it hard to believe, given the figures being reported). Do you have a reference please? Worth bearing in mind that Case Fatality Rate is defined as number of deaths over known, recorded cases. Anything that involves guessing the possible number infected is not a CFR. That is necessary in order to provide a scientific basis for disease comparison (eg. CFR for SARS is recorded in history as 9.6%). It is worth considering South Korea's figures. At the moment their CFR is currently 1%, though their age demographic may have some part to play they have been testing very widely, far more so than other countries thus they are picking up more of the mild cases. The majority of other countries with higher CFRs appear, given their test numbers, only appear to be testing at the point of hosptalisation. The 1% figure was given by the UK CMO when briefing the Health Select Committee, he pointed out that the WHO figures are based on headine numbers and that until there is a serum test that can detect asymptomatic suffers, i.e. people of have had it but didn't suffer any or any major symptoms, who have had the virus we wont know what the true CFR is. Thanks for the reference. Yes, WHO rightly bases CFR on headline figures - because that's how it's defined. Our CMO's 1% is based on wishful thinking ("if we can develop a serum test, then maybe..."). As is, sadly, much of our government's policy at the moment. As others have pointed out, why weren't they providing more acute beds and ordering the building of patient respirators weeks ago? Why only today are they starting to think about this? It was blindingly obvious weeks ago (eg. Diamond Princess, and China) that this virus was going to spread like wildfire, and HMG has wasted weeks sitting on its hands. It's clear they're placing the economy above the lives of a few thousand citizens. They told us for weeks they are well geared up to handle the outbreak and they were lying. Still, so long as we're all busily washing our hands, all will be fine... Re South Korea with their unrivalled testing regime, even their indicative CFR is over 1%. Of their 8413 recorded cases, 1% have already died, 18% have recovered... and the other 81% have still to resolve one way or the other. So it's likely to be >1%. Of their resolved cases, this currently suggests a CFR of 5% (but, in common with other countries, this figure is likely to reduce a little).

The world is engulfed with covid-19. Amazing how quickly this has spread. Does anyone believe the conspiracy theories? That this was a chinese bio weapon that got released by accident? No, this virus doesn’t sound like a biological weapon.

Was in my local Tesco's last night and managed to bag a pack of 9 toilet rolls. Don't realy need 9. but that was the only size available (where's Noel Edmonds swap shop when you need it).
Alcohol supplies appeared to be dwindiling. I don't know whether it's:
- people stocking up instead of going down the pub
- people drowning their sorrows because of the losses they have made on the stock market
- people drowning their sorrows at the thought of what is coming next

I went to Aldi and ASDA last night. No alcohol shortage in both shops. Asda didn’t have any toilet rolls last Friday, but yesterday packs of 9 were available. I suppose it varies day by day - deliveries are still taking place.

An online wine retailer I regularly use has announced that it is temporarily suspending acceptance of new orders as it is overwhelmed with extra demand. Good job my delivery arrived on Monday!

I suppose it varies day by day - deliveries are still taking place. I went to the supermarket today (Canary Islands). A little taste of my experience: 1) You are only allowed to travel to, enter the supermarket and shop alone. 2) Only 50 people max. in the supermarket at one time (thankfully not a problem in my locale) 3) There are two elevators from the car park. One is now designated an 'up' elevator and one back down. 4) Only one person in each elevator at a time. 5) Upon arriving on the upper level, a security guard immediately pointed me at a disposable gloves stack. I was obliged to wear a pair for the duration. 6) Shoppers kept a noticeably significant distance between each other at all times. 7) Staff cleaning furiously at all times. 8) 1 person per checkout belt at a time (they often opened more as required if 2-3 people turn up at once). 9) Card payments highly encouraged. 10) Toilet paper ample! A few bits and pieces missing, but nothing dramatic. All in all, it's all fair enough in the circumstances, but god does it make for a tense experience. Couldn't really be more different to the usual Spanish atmosphere.

Gonna be tough, but might have to increase daily intake of G&T... cheers Vero 🤣 That won’t last long you will be restricted to 3 at supermarket better by three 2ltr rather than 3 250ml of tonic. The craziness of blanket 3 only rule . 3 packets of crisps or 3 36 bag of crisps in a bag. ?? 3x6 eggs or 3x 30 tray of eggs. I hear there is a run on freezers at Currys

Just got back from my local small co-op, just me and the bored cashier all shelves sacked with goods. You pay more but could people be passing these places by on the way to the big supermarkets? I was tempted to add to my loo roll collection but overcame it and bought donuts.

There are shops with supplies (toilet rolls, paracetamols), can't find all the items in one place, but it's manageable. Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetable. Some items (like hand gels) are not seen anywhere in shops. No panic yet.
