I know as much as I care.
I lent some money. I have my money back, and am no longer earning interest on it, so I need to reinvest it...

No fair! All my early repayments are high rate... Rest assured there's still plenty of low rate cards left in my hand! My solitary 4.8% part hasn't been rapaid!

I hope there is a pick up in lending this week, since it was very slow over the bank holiday weekend. 5 year market currently includes a big lump of funds sat at 6.3%

Strange, very little matched over the weekend in 5 yr market. Just 77 matches last 24hrs. Never seen it that low.

I had 1.2k left in front of me for 6.5 match and slam in came a neat round 50k at 6%. Not sure if the 50k was withdrawn or matched overnight but it's now gone. He's back today! Exactly the same. Ignores 6.4,6.3,6.2,6.1 and plonks £50K in at 6.0%. Daft or what? Don't spread the word or Mr 5.9 will re-awaken! PS, a big Q of borrowers suddenly appears ... not at 6.4%, but ............ 5.9%. Who decides at what rate a stack of waiting borrowers is offering? And a match at 5.9% is made at 09:23, Mr 6.0%'s money drops by about £7K, yet no money has gone on offer at below 6%. There's alot about the matching process that we are not told.

It's not just restricted to RS - it applies to many platforms IMO especially once those institutions get involved whether it's declared by the platform or hidden under the covers.

Although I have been reading this forum for a couple of years I have never really had anything to say but this situation is really concerning. For one, I really need a little more transparency on the process if I am to maintain my confidence. I can understand the £50k just being a badly informed investor but if the above is correct it seems too coincidental for demand to suddenly appear as well. As far as the lender is concerned I am not unduly surprised, I mentioned Ratesetter to a relative some time ago and he later told me he had invested. In the same week as I was getting 6.3% he was pleased that he had undercut the queue and lent immediately at 5.7%. In his defense he was used to ZOPA so lending £20k immediately at 5.7% and not over the space of a month or two at 5.0% was perhaps a surprise to him.

Why isn't there a Q of borrowers waiting at various rates all the time?

Only a guess but I suspect a borrower will be automatched to the lowest lender rates available. He can then accept the loan, go elsewhere, or put in a bid at a lower rate to see if any lenders want to bite for an instant match. Now on seeing an outlier on the lending queue a cheeky borrower might well go for a slightly lower rate, and often he will get matches. It is of course more fun to imagine RS as run by a secret group intent on conspiring against lenders (like the Banks!).

Where were all those borrowers trying to undercut the prevailing (and market) rate of 6.5% with their offers of 6.4/6.3? They just appear ... more than £40K of them, immediately after someone dumps at 6%. I'm sure it doesn't ruffle the feathers or fur of the canny RS lender who just has a banana and waits a few hours (even days) for the Thursday rate peak.

Then there is peanuts (your second favourite?) to go before we are back at 6.6 again and on upwards from there ready for your Thursday spike. Be interesting to see what MR is tomorrow and whether this has affected it significantly given that I would estimate that this afternoon / evening will be spent trading at 6.6+

Oh dear. There are no borrower offers at all now. That means no one wants to pay lenders 6.5-6.7% so we're doomed. Doomed!!!
So where do those sudden influxes of borrower offers appear from at apparently crucial times?
