A letter arrived from NSI this morning, that I've not seen before:- "We're pleased to tell you that Bond number # registered in your name has won a prize of £25 in the draw. We've reallocated this prize because the original winner wasn't eligible to receive it". Which is odd. Still, puts me onto £100 for October {shrug}. EDIT: And no, agent69 , it still won't pay for the roof  . Youngest received one of those too. Took us a while to work out whether it was a scam or some foreign power trying to gaslight him. He has the sort of job that is so secret I'll have to kill you . Seems it was HMG being super efficient.

I believe the most common cause of that is when the NS&I discover that the bondholder who originally won has been dead for more than a year before the draw. Probably the executor didn't know they had bonds, and only found out when a prize notification came in. They write back to cash the bonds in, with a death certificate, so NS&I reclaim and reallocate. Another interesting PB fact: 75% of all bond holders have never won a penny
PS: only £25 this month. Looks like I will have to downgrade my forthcoming holiday accommodation from Villa to appartment.
