This Ladies and Gentleman is the beginning of the tale of 'The premium bond serial killer'. 21m bond holders, so you would need to knock off quite a few to increase your return.
Another interesting PB fact: 75% of all bond holders have never won a penny
PS: only £25 this month. Looks like I will have to downgrade my forthcoming holiday accommodation from Villa to appartment.
I've just twigged what the 'deaders contribution' meant !
And isn't statistics an interesting and rewarding career?

Another 3 x £25 for me this month (same as last month).
1.53% a year average return (over 16 years).

£100. I take back everything I said, since 1956 premium bonds have been the best thing since sliced bread in 1928.

I had intended to swap the lot out this month, as it would do my Barclays Premium Account a bit of good to have a throughput of 100K. However they came through with £125 for Xmas. Dammit, a quandary.....

Not so good this month Mrs aju only and then only £25. At present for the year she is on 0.7%. Only slightly more than current marcus @0.6%. At least she faired better with her Zopa 1Y @ 1.29% that closed 3 months ago. Her 1.4% has 9 months to go.
Our P2P is not fairing that great and whe3n we turned relend back on after some large withdrawals things seemed to pick up in her std for a short while but defaults are still limiting the returns quite a bit. Her ISA account is slightly better but again defaults are still a problem. More negatives than the STD but its early days yet and we still have the Covid effect to cause issues too.

It seems that the only way to have value is to buy goods/stuff that you value and that add to your pleasure in being alive (even if only paying the electricity bill so that you can soak in a deep hot bath !!)
