2 x £25 for me this month on the full 50k. £675 for this year (2021).
This makes my overall average return - 1.54% on 16 years of the full amount and is a return of 1.35% for this year (2021).
I'm happy with that.

You both did better than me. Despite getting £100 this month I only got 0.7% in 2021.

Just checked by NSI account and noted Ive only won £25 in 2020 , previous to that the last win was 2017. Will leave until end Dec draw and see if my luck (or lack of) improves.

Looks like December's avalanche of cash has reduced to a trickle. £25 in January.

I'm not surprised. I know someone who won £75 off 7k, there's your average annual return right there.

Unfortunately I must have below average luck....10k and wins as noted earlier. P2p dying, stocks/bonds dont look to rosy this year, cash rates are a pittance...not a lot left to invest in.

Energy Efficiency or self generation Solar, Battery etc invest in a windfarm. My Roof is non optimal but I got over 3500kWh from my panels last year Based on current prices the panels are saving me about £500 a year on usage plus another £300 or so from export payments and by charging the battery overnight in the winter I save about £200 on electricity by storing it at cheap rate and using at expensive. so £1000 a year return on a £7500 investment. Battery is warranted for 6000 cycles ( 15 years ) Panels for 25 years. I have a smallish legacy due, and a chunk will be spent on additional battery

Keeping up the average of around 50 a month - the year is off to a good start.

I think that I can see how you save £500 on usage (3500*14p) and £200 on using off-peak to charge the battery (180 days*12kW*14p-5p) but I'm puzzled as to how you are also exporting enough to net £300?

This is a very interesting way to make and save money. I recently rented a house in spain and it was totally off grid. Solar panels and what looked like a large forklift battery in an outhouse.this worked well for the 7 days we were there and only once did I notice the generator kick in. Wasnt aware similar systems were available in the UK. Its definitely the way forward to reduce reliance on the grid. Maybe I can purchase a system if I ever win some premium bonds!!

Wasnt aware similar systems were available in the UK. Its definitely the way forward to reduce reliance on the grid. There are houses in the UK which are off the power grid - but not many. There's certainly no reason that the technology is any different to any solar-storage alongside the grid. AIUI, in Spain, it's actively illegal to run power connections to properties in national parks. And, of course, they get a bit more sun...
