Me £50.00 1/2 £325
Certainly worth more than 'a poke in the eye with a pointed stick'.

This calculator suggests you should win a prize roughly every 9 years (with today's interest rate/ prize structure). With bonds bought 40 years ago, are you certain they hold your latest address, etc?

<snipped items> Brilliant calculator thanks for the steer, I can get rid of my spreads now. Was considering moving some taxable funds that will release in next few month to more taxable stuff (Trying to keep any tax payments down these days) and will now be moving them into more PB's...

Glad it helped, but I can't take the credit. Somebody else posted it here several weeks ago and it was good enough to bookmark.

If you have a "Holder's Number" you can check to see if you have won, and I have just noticed that they have an "Unclaimed prizes" section towards the bottom of the screen.
If you look through this month's list of big winners, you might spot the prize of £50k that went to the owner of £5 worth of bonds purchased in July 1983.
I am willing to bet that NS&I will have problems finding the lucky winner!
And what a return...

...and somebody won £10k off a £2 bond bought way back in 1956. I love to see this and always imagine some old dear, right up against it, coming into a nice little windfall in their dotage. Good for them. 👍

Good for them. 👍 I have sorted several estates and that is one concern I still have; have I missed a vital piece of information? The original bonds were fairly small pieces of paper and could have been used as a bookmark or just lost in a pile of correspondence.
And I would never know!

Just £200 for me this month (£100 + 2 × £50). I beat you by £50.
Still, £200 a month must be at least 4.8% return
