Well, I might - if you really mean that P2P sits at the end of the spectrum. I can think of many more investments that I would consider to be more speculative than P2P (bitcoin, anyone?). IF you mean - more than 50% of the way up a scale from 0 (NS&I) to 100 (not sure what the end is... tulips?) - then possibly, though we'd need to have an extended discussion on how this particular scale is calibrated. P2P also covers quite a range on this scale, of course, with property-secured accounts with PFs at the lower end of that range. Not at the very end, no - but, as a cohort, getting that way. And, yes, taking 'sensible' steps - such as focusing on domestic property and/or avoiding junior ranking loans - can do an awful lot to help reduce the risk.

Yep, BitCoin and its cousins are the modern equivalent of Dutch tulip bulbs in my mind. Insane how people talk BTC up as a store of value. No intrinsic value at all. On a scale of 0 to 100, I'd put NS&I at 10, Govt's can and do default or seize capital, P2P around 60, followed by CFDs, Spreadbets and BTC at 90, 100 would be a lottery ticket.
I'd tend to disagree that CFDs / SpreadBetting was up in at the 90 mark along with Cryptos. (If that's what you meant?) Banner warnings on most spreadbetting sites will warn of 70-odd percent of punter losing, so would seem logical to place it at that level. (And doesn't it logically imply that 20-something percent of participants don't lose? )

Discounts now at 5.6% / 5.8% (for £10K). I wonder if the drop has been caused by some of the £4m loan #227 repayment hitting the AA SM. Must be close to the lowest discount on record, the auto reinvest seems to have completed now, up to 5.7% - 5.9% now, still quite a lot lower than last week though. Apologies if I've missed it, I have not had time to keep up properly lately. Are the current discount rates for buying and selling available on the AC website anywhere, I had a look this afternoon but couldn't see anything. Thanks.

AC choose not to advertise the discount rate, so you have to test and sample yourself unfortunately.

Putting aside the fairly obvious fact that it would be a pretty poor marketing tool currently. A simple display showing bids and offers and depth of market would almost certainly benefit most investors, and hardly be a taxing task to display. It would save people wasting time testing the waters and still only getting an outliers view.

Not quite; You have to have available funds, to the desired amount, on the platform to know the discount offered to invest, conversely you have to have invested funds eligible for withdrawal to know the discounts required to exit for any given amount at that time.
This is made doubly awkward by the restriction on not being able to initiate an invest action with active withdrawals on a sub account or vice versa.
In my view, the system was deliberately designed to be opaque.

On what basis are people BUYING at a <5% discount?

On what basis are people BUYING at a <5% discount? Presumably because they still feel the equivalent of 16 months extra interest on their QAA investment is attractive

On what basis are people BUYING at a <5% discount? No idea, I am selling at that price. The lack of liquidity alone (which I can't see being reversed any time soon given the huge exit queues) is enough to justify at least that discount.

Can't immediately see the answer to this on the platform - what happens with accrued interest when you sell? If you sell at the end of the month, do you just forego it? Or are you still paid whatever interest you accrued when it's next paid?
