Thanks for this, Had a old TSB account still partially scuffed after the 2018 fiscal. Gonna switch that get the bonus, thanks! We still have 4 TSB accounts between us both, down to 1.5% which today is still good but not sure how much longer it will last. It is a bit of a pain having to move the Interest to another account to make it work better, the round robin with the funds though is automatic since I discovered they accepted from each other using standing orders between my accounts. Mrs aju does something similar.

Ek! The validation on the Halifax switch form refuses to accept my last name (which has a pesky hyphen in it). Processed the switch over the phone instead. Yeah I read about that on the MSE forum, forgot to mention it, apologies. Alls well that ends well though well done..

Truely a joke, so I've been holding it for a time like this.

I like the FCA just have to make sure its framed in a way that gets their immediate attention.

I need to have 6500 so I don't touch the 5000 as going under will make the £5 void for any month when that happens... ...as it seems if you miss even one day of having 5000 in the account then it will lose the £5 for that month... Edit2: There are other ways to get the £5 than the £5000... I expect that it's only the end-of-day balance that matters. So if you make the £1500 transfer in and out on the same day, you don't need to have £6500 in there. I'm using the other variant of that reward offer, for which you need to - spend at least £500 per month via debit card (and Ablrate accept investments via debit card, which helps to chip away at that requirement!) and
- keep your balance "above" £0. So far, Halifax have paid me the £5 reward each month, despite me routinely using my overdraft intra-day, when a Direct Debit gets paid out in the morning and later that day I make a faster payment from a savings account, to return the current account balance to £0.

Thanks aju . TBH, I have been declined many times by Halifax, not sure why. I have other Lloyds banking group accounts but Halifax did not want to take me back until NOW. Halifax must be desperate looking for new customers.

I'm hoping Hfx will take a bit traction from others and it will spark a wave of offers, bit like those that happened in 2007/8. I won't hold my breath of course but one can live in hope. They have smartened up their acts now as well with no multiples too - I think that was the case otherwise i'll be punting a joint one too soon although not my top priority as they can be harder to close down the line. Shredder will be getting some use in the next few days too for old cards, hope it still works.

Yeah that has worked elsewhere largely ok but I was not sure I wanted to commit £5000 a month and not get the £5. I would have plumped for the same as you but I wanted to keep my shopping spend to Tesco CC and Tesco Bank cards as we get more points. I may yet try the £5000 only. Can you confirm you pass the payments back and forth to two Hfx accounts. In my case we have 1 each between us we will be using standing orders that cross paths. As I say it works for TSB and Lloyds to Nationwide (insurance) and other passes. I seem to remember there was one account where that fell over as they would pass stuff on a weekend days as well but it escapes me at the moment. Edit; Sorry I've just re-read your comment that you were not double sending but catching it in time and manually repaying. (Sorry I got logged out by the forum halfway through before I could re-read it in time to send)

I've only tried to/from non-Hfx account. thanks, i'ts probable as it works in others but Hfx might have got it solved they are closing off the likes of us gamer's (of the system not nintendo!) as much as possible but hey the first time they did this quite a few years back sucked me in and I stayed ever since so it may be acceptable. I'll try it and see when I get the transfer completed.

Kudos to aju for picking up on this. I tend to ignore switching offer these days as usually requiring direct debits or not being an existing account holder so Id ignored this. Account opened and switch initiated. Cheers for the kudos, to be honest I was surprised I was first to the trough as the MSE site seemed to go wild a week or so ago. I'm like having come up through the multiple accounts worth small fortunes to some - halifax was a real money earner for us over a number of years in the past. They seem to have refined themselves now though - learnt from their mistakes I'd say and are limiting things a lot more now but it is essentially the same thing. We have not put anything in as yet as still waiting for switches to complete. I have already prepared out accounts for £1500 run around, at least we don;t need DD's this time (Tesco pretty much stopped that game when they removed their DD's capability from saving accounts!. Any way good luck have fun with the funds, although to be fair Mrs aju has already spent it in her mind, I must stop telling her how this stuff works. I’ve transferred 5k straight away. As I understood it, if I have one day of balance below 5k I won’t get £5 bonus in September.

I think you might have the right idea I should have set up the rewards, transferred the £5000 to fit the rewards rule and trigger the £1500 per month rules all in one swoop. Then set up the £1500 s/o's tests. Sadly I waited to see what happened rather than setup rewards immediately. That was not the best idea as I thought i was being clever and did this 1 .Open reward account (Included setting up the transfer in from external accounts ( didn't set rewards at that point) 2. Waited until confirmation from donor bank to acknowledge the transfer at their end. 3. Sent £5000 from outside source to both our accounts (to make sure the £3 fee is not triggered in 1st month!) 4. Set up reciprocal S/O for £100 set on each of our accounts for Sat 15th (Test the weekend setting do not unhinge the £5000 rules it shouldn't as Hfx says it will skip to next bus day but I've been there before ...) 5. Set up rewards requests in both accounts (waited a day to see what the reward status is). Oops, it seems that setting up rewards and the earlier £3 fee input of £1500 (5000) is reset when one sets rewards up, i'm sure it says this in T&Cs but I wasn't expecting it none the less.so I've changed the test S/O's to £1500 - in for a penny in for a pound - testing the 15th hopefully that won't mess up the £5000 end of day rules and will get the £1500 trigger as well . (I'm confident it won't fail the 5000 end of day rule but i'll report back if it does.) Phew, these banks are much wiser now than the earlier days but I can't say I blame them at least there are DD's required. We made over 3k in 1st HFX where Tescos kindly made the DD thing easier with their savings account's.

We made over 3k in 1st HFX where Tescos kindly made the DD thing easier with their savings account's. I did it all in one go - application, rewards, switch, initial 5k and 'in&out" £1500 SO's from September. Did the same for my Mrs - this was even easier, just upgraded her current account and switched her dormant Nationwide. Indeed the beauty of this offer is - no DD requirement. It's the second time I'm getting £100 bonus from Halifax + bonus for switching from Halifax to another bank (can't remember which one). In-out-in... I've never had DD requirement from Tescos. I think it's because I've opened the accounts as soon as the product went live, they've tightened up the conditions later.

I too was fortunate to not have needed dd's with my Tesco current a/c, Mrs Aju does still though. The Tesco savings account was useful for dd's needed by other banks though until they pulled that facility a while back now. With my experiments I guess i was trying to be too clever by half with setting things up. I was not sure if I wanted to commit too deeply - suspicious of the dirty tricks some banks seem to play at times. That said Hfx did pay a lot of money to a lot of people like us that play the system to get the largest benefit for minimal cost. TSB is the only other bank where we get benefits but they are pairing down - rates wise too. I wonder though now that HFX are doing this, how long it will be that other banks will need to factor their customer losses. There is an interesting chart in the which regarding banks losses and gains since the pandemic started. Edit: I forgot Virgin Money too @ 2.0% for £1000, we have 3 of those for 12 months initially, no hoops needed.
