Indeed, I have other arranagements in place, you would have to keep more than 5k in cash if you wanted to use it pro-actively as a investment parking place, would just bee too much of a head ache to not accidently hit the fee by going below 5k and what not. Too many bank accounts as it is! the 1.15% is pretty good on NS&I although yeh its 0.05 less which is signficant this low in rates. Virgin doing 2% on 1k I think still? I think the fee is waved if you pay in £1500 a month. Keeping 5k in is for getting 1.2%. I'm used to these things, not a head ache for me, only need to set up 3 SO's (£1500 in, £1500 out and £5 out) and forget about it for a year... Good thing about this offering is that you can get out at any time without loosing previously earned profit. Yes, Virgin is still doing it. I've got 4 of them, tried to get more, but the system won't allow How did you get 4? Just created new accounts each time??

Virgin has no limit on accounts held (only exception is if you have accounts with its 2 partners), i have loads Quietly all with sto's feeding the interest into another account.

Must admit that was the impression I got, just seems a touch messy with the extra saving account every time (which for reference lives on after moving the current account bit). May well open a few more but experience tells me the rate will drop as soon as I have finished.

I've only recently started the Virgin game, is the interest that steady (the same each month) that you can set S/O's and be comfortable its not hitting the £1000 interest amount. I only keep the minimum I need in accounts like this. Just curious. (we have 1 each and a joint so 3 in total) Who are their partners just in case we have one of them too?.

Yorkshire & Clydesdale I assume as its part of CYBG Thanks, I did have those when they had deals a while back but I'd need to check my records to see if I still kept them as transferable options. Not sure i'd want to risk losing the virgin deal though by being too greedy but it does look very tempting I must admit. Might try one and if I get hit by it could plead a mistake!. edit: I've just been cleaning up my mobile and noticed that message for virgin has CYB in the title...

One was the old "B" account opened via Clydesdale which turned into Virgin account. The other 3 I've opened within a couple of weeks, but one at a time - one from Clydesdale and two from Yorkshire (one joint).

It is common - accounts drop their rates, but in the recent months, I've only emptied one of the accounts where the rate dropped from 3% to 1% (1% is not competitive atm) - I'm keeping the rest of them (I have around 30-40 accounts that earn interest) as the rates have dropped, but still better than any other new offers.

So not sure if this has been discussed recently but Halifax has recently opened a new deal where one can get £100 for a few hoops to jump through but in essence for anyone who has another current account not working for them and is prepared to set up a hfx reward account then it is possible to get better than 2.5% for very little work. Have a look at the link there is a long forum on MSE too - I've started things rolling for Mrs Aju and myself this morning opening up accounts and switching a couple of spare accounts. I'm preparing to use £1500 to push back and forth with each of our accounts so we don't pay the £3 monthly fee that's the way to get the £100. I could just bow out what seems fairly quickly and take the £100. That would effectively get 6.6% (if I left it there for a year rotating but way better as some people are saying the reward comes fairly quickly) There are rewards where If I put £5000 into the account and keep at lest 5000 for every day for a year then I will get £5 (£6.25 for non tax payers like Mrs Aju) even mine has reduced quite a bit now that I've put a lot of reinvest into Mrs Aju's account and the rates have plummeted. So the £5000 with £5(6.25) reward can get (1.2%) or 1.5% to mitigate the fee I need to have 6500 so I don't touch the 5000 as going under will make the £5 void for any month when that happens. So assuming I get £6.25+£5 month and have 6500 in the account then that's 2.07%. I think I got that right. Sadly its not compounding but I could mover the monthlies back to my next best invest-able simple account which by then will be Marcus @ at a paltry 1.05% after the end of August. One thing to watch out for if you are interested is don;t set up the £5.6.2 for £5000 until you are cleared and have put 5000 into the account as it seems if you miss even one day of haveing 5000 in the account then it will lose the £ 5 for that month. Sorry if that's not quite extensive as I say there are a lot of references to it elsewhere and there are you have until 14 Sep to have completed the new account and transfer. The rewards request can be done anytime. Anyway hope that helps anyone wishing to get free money without too many onerous hurdles, not sure how long it might last as it seems to be gaining a lot of web traffic on MSe anyway. Edit: Added a link to MSE as well in text (I wish I could type too! Edit2: There are other ways to get the £5 than the £5000 but there are no ways round the 1500 £3 fee as far as O can tell. Thank you for posting this info. I didn't expect any good offers from banks at this time. I have a dormant RBS ready for switching (earned me £150 for switching and has no purpose anymore), it's always good to keep dormant bank accounts opened if they don't require any fees. In my calculation Halifax is a 3.2% offer, which is the best offer on the market today. I'll get it done tomorrow - have to grab good offers quickly before they disappear Thankyou, Switch reward landed last night, switch due 1st of next month, decided to keep and go the £5 for £1500.00 with appropriate Sto's and debit spend. Account terms are 12 months and then reviewed by halifax.

I wonder if this offer has a limit on the number of accounts one can have? I've just opened the second one (no switch bonus, but 1.2% on an extra 5k is still good in current market condition).

Were they 2 personal reward accounts or was one either joint or ultimate reward. Hfx on twitter told me that I could only have 1 reward account and 1 joint reward account. ( the joint one cannot be easily cancelled according to other forums) edit: Not sure what will happen to your 2 accounts df , I've now found the item that details the restrictions on the accounts one is allowed to have. I have paraphrased a table below This link page 26 has the full details.

One has sort code ending on 75 and another on 76. One of them recognises my old dormant BoS accounts, the other one doesn't. To access each of my reward accounts I have to log in separately. The same with Clydesdale/Yorkshire (Virgin current account) - two different "identities" (sort codes), so I was able to open 4 accounts.
