Just opened s virgin isa at 2.25%. I was far too slow but decided to sell my corporate bond funds in my s&s isa today. A year to late, dropped back to value 3 years ago! No idea where to reinvest. Bonds(and stock)suddenly make cash attractive!

<snipped> Mrs Aju is more fortunate than many to have her personal pension increases by RPI data in May and last month that was at 11.1% so we have fingers crossed it might raise up too. It's capped at 12% but notes in her pension docs suggest that it can be more than 12% in some circumstances ( She doesn't have her fingers crossed on that one though - we are both cynics in these scenarios) I'd personally be very happy with increases like CPI @ 9% hanging around until the September figures are revealed but I suspect that being the date for quite a few pensions these days that may be reduced. Lets hope the figures are not massaged down temporarily to reduce pension payouts. (Sadly these figures are based on the previous 12 months and as such our pensions have taken a battering as all shop prices are increasing - Mrs Aju is very good at the groceries and making every last item we buy pay their way, She's making a cake as I write with a 49p tin of Cannellini beans from Lidl .) All that said we have been very fortunate over the years with our pensions and our investments so we can't really complain too much

All that said we have been very fortunate over the years with our pensions and our investments so we can't really complain too much There's two ways in which the CPI could be manipulated downwards: - Prices of the items in the CPI "basket" are less than the prices twelve months earlier.
- The items in the CPI "basket" are swapped for items which haven't risen.
I would suggest that the current government won't be able to achieve the first nor brazen enough to force the UK Statistics Authority to do the second! However, RPI is scheduled to be replaced by CPIH, currently in Feb 2030, though I understand that's subject to Judicial Review following demands from the trustees of some large pension schemes who hold gilts with interest rates linked to RPI. And I trust that you both enjoy Mrs Aju's cake!

Is Zopa fit enough to be a bank? May be not. They do not have enough dedicated staffs for the "banking" team.

Is Zopa fit enough to be a bank? May be not. They do not have enough dedicated staffs for the "banking" team. Do they not? Certainly not after 5pm. I've just tried to ask them a question via chat, all I got is bot giving me options for my question (none of them are relevant to my enquiry) and it goes round and round the circle. I'm interested in their 1.5%-1.85% "Smart Saver", found out about it today. Wanted to know what interest will my funds earn whilst in waiting to be transferred from a "boosted pot" to "access pot", will it stay "boosted" until the transfer takes place?. Couldn't find any explanation on the website. Does anyone know?

waiting yo be transferred from boosted to access? you mean not instant, df? I seems it is instant the other way round. The bot will also transfer question to the “lending” team related to smart saver issues. 🤣

"Boosted" are 7/31/95 days notice accounts (more notice = more interest). Noticed withdrawals are transferred to instant access, my question was how is the interest calculated during the notice period . I'll try to call them tomorrow.

🙄 Well, it seems zopa accounts or pots does not accept BACS, CHAPS. Only FPS / Open FPS. I start to wonder what exactly is a “pot”? Don’t they insist it is not an bank account. I have already lost faith with those “vaults” by another company. Zopa “Access” p2p lending account liquidity was questionable at one point. Warning from banks when you make instant transfer to Smart Saver

During the notice period, of course you get the boosted rate.

My statement is based on observation. Give notice on a boosted pot just after the monthly interest date and see what interest is accrued in the next month during the notice period and you’ll establish it’s the boosted rate.
