Some years ago I went to a very local type sandwich shop. They made up sandwiches to order but the chicken tray had just ran out. So the lady went round the back and came back with a large white block at least 2 foot by a foot wide and a perfect cuboid shape. She opened it and started to shave bits off. It turned out that was the chicken.
If we're going to eat stuff like that along with chip butties etc I can't see fresh fish taking off.

In Yorkshire (wait for it) we already have fish and meat shops in supermarkets, in open air markets and in local stores all selling local Yorkshire food.
Why would we want to buy our meat from as far away as Scotland?
Ducks for cover.....
Anyone else spotted that Tescos sell two Alaskan Lobster for £10. Now if only the British shell fish businesses could show the gumption to push the Alaskans out of the way

Do Alaskan lobsters have to come from Alaska? Cheddar cheese doesn't have to come from Cheddar, and Scotch pine are grown all over the world.

They are typically smaller younger lobster that would be illegal to catch in the UK. Our waters could not sustain that sort of fishing. Bulk transferred to the UK at certain times of the year like Xmas will keep costs down.

If these things I saw over Christmas are small young ones, I would hate to see Daddy.

Admitdly I haven't read it all - just the abstract but I'm fairly sure the stereotype brexit voter is likely to be older, working class and poorer. Anecdotally all my contacts are middle class, well educated and doing well. They all supported Remain. Edit: Major typo as bolded above !

Just an echo chamber of people who agreed with you?

I've noticed a few times that you make a post, people reply and then you reverse what you've said, causing considerable confusion. If you read some of the report, it makes a distinction between wealth and income. High income was not an indicator of voting for Brexit. I'm not cross with you in particular, dear michaelc . The government is today denying that there is any trade problem, which is as false as the statement that there will be no border in the Irish Sea. it is chaos in importing and exporting at the moment. Only the true believers can make sense of leaving the EU, because they are not interested in the livelihoods of ordinary people.

I don't know about a few times but I seem to recall at least once before. I can only apologise and say I think I did correct the record fairly soon afterwards. Re your third paragraph the issues for NI brought about by the EU's "mistake" pale in comparison to the problems all 27 members are having obtaining sufficient vaccine and yes I do believe if we'd remained we would have been in the same boat. I wasn't a "true believer" at the time of the referendum but have become so due to events afterwards. Crying over spilt milk is never a good idea. Lets hear less of "would/should 've" and more of "should do". P.S. Your friendly style of disagreeing with me and others is very much always appreciated.
